Did these phones work prior or are they new? Is there a "page" button or "handset locator" key that can be pressed and see if the handset is alerted? If you try the above mentioned and not successful then it sounds like you need to "register" the handsets to the base. Also try another phone wire from the jack to the cordless phone base. If the "handset" beeped then it is already registered. It means that it is recognized by the base and therefore should be working. If you still have no dial tone on the phone there must be an issue with the working condition of the phone. Sorry that my advice didn't solve your problem.

hi ... try this, change the cord in first.
if this don`t work: and make this test. whit another phone connected maybe in other place of the house(check first if you have dial tone ), plug the problematic phone, wait few minutes press talk on the other phone. if don't have dial tone the problem is the phone unit ,was impact by a lightning on the phone line.
few minutes after you connect the cord the line make a shortcut.
only an electronic technician can repair that, and sometimes is expensive.
A 77xx series phone is a Proprietary Analong telephone. It requires 4 wires to operate, the inner pair (your standard tip and ring) carries the voice and the outer pair carries the data. Guess which pair has a problem :-)
If you start with a regular telephone and plug it into the jack, you'll get dial tone. Work your way back until the regular phone works. Once it does, the 77xx phone will work. Also, to double check, take the system phone and plug it directly into the jack at the system cabinet. It should work or you have a defective base cord or phone.
This is probably because dial tones and ringing tones are part of an archaic system. Your cell phone still makes these noises as a courtesy, and you hear the dial tones/ringing tones when you make regular calls because your phone is communicating with the standard phone system.
Try switching batteries with one of your other handsets known to be in good working order or replace the batteries in the handset with the problem with new ones
Have you tried unplugging your base station and all the handsets?
Sometimes the base station, where the power and the telephone line plugs into needs a reset. Just like a computer sometimes it needs a reboot.
If problem presists, take a regular analog phone and plug it in to the same jack as the cordless phone bas station, and see if it is a cable issue/ telephone company issue.
Hi peddler65, did you plug your phone into another area to see if there is a dial tone. Then if not call the phone company or find the D-mark (where your dial tone ) comes into your home and put a jack on that and plug a phone in with all phones
in the house unplugged.
After waiting for over 24 hrs for an answer from FixYa and then they wanted $10.00 and trying to fix it myself, I gave up. Threw all that c$$p into a box, took it back to the store and got my money back. It just wasn't worth the time and aggravation.
I disconnected the RadioShack phone/answering machine and plugged in an old phone. At first I didn't get a dial tone, but in a minute or so, I did get one. I doublechecked the connection with the incoming phone jack. (I had checked this before, but didn't see anything wrong.) Again, I didn't see anything wrong, but maybe that did it. Also, when I disconnected the RadioShack from the incoming phone jack, I disconnected from my computer (I used to have dial-up connection).
Don't know which of my actions worked, but now I have dial tone on Radio Shack.
Hoooooooray!!!!
if you have a dial tone when your computer is not plugged in, then the problem ls with your computer[ a possible short in the computer] the phone cord to the jack, or anything in between such as a dsl modem.if you have dsl, be sure your ethernet cord [ that's the wider plug cord] is in the wider jack in back of the computer. it wont fit in the regular phone jack.if you have dial up, be sure the phone cord is in the regular jack not the ethernet port.[if you have one]
