Mouse wire problem - XP Microsoft Computers & Internet

if the mouse is wired to the back of the computer by a usb plug then there will be no battery as the mouse is powered through the usb connection.

These optical mouse do not work on a shiny surface. Try using it with a mouse pad or place the mouse on a piece of paper.

ok , the mouse only issue a wire less mouse
did you load fresh drives for that from HP yet?
you can use a wired mouse as a back up, all wireless mice are problematic, google the world on that zillions of hits.

ok now the $3 wired mouse works.
next go to device manager.


i guess you mean the lift mouse button fails but mouse pointer works. right (highlight is left click actions)
first go to control panel (wired mouse)
then see MOUSE read that page, of config, look ok.
if not reset it. (pointer tab, use default , button)
then go to , CP , control panel again, click DM device manager
see your mouse there,
right click it and pick update driver, be internet connected NOW.

im not to smart on all-in-one desktops,(i hate them)
so cant wax smart on mouse.
but here are the drivers, which one picks up mouses support not sure. but IT IS THERE.
so answer is reload driver like day one.
and the mouse can fail.. do know that. for sure the left click button switch.

Hello Sir, Hi, that is a problem with the wired mouse, inside that mouse cable has 4 wires, as you use the mouse, one or two of the wire will eventually break, when this happens, time to replace that mouse.

it is not worth the effort, go a buy a mouse, its going to cost you around 10 for a basic wire mouse. the time and effort to make your old one wired, its not worth it.

Absolutely. You seem to have answered the question yourself. There is no way that the router change can affect the performance of the mouse . 1. try this mouse now with another port in the computer. 2. Try this mouse in a different PC
Atleast that you isolate teh problem. This change in router has ntohing to do with a wired mouse's functions.

Gaming mice are not cheap,sell for $30 - 130. The cord on my RAZER DIAMONDBACK mouse went bad, I opened the mouse & repaired the broken wires.You have to unplug cord from inside mouse,the connection plug has very small barbs,so you have to pry the socket open a bit to unplug it.Once the cord is out cut the rubber part on the cord that connects to mouse that reinforces the cord.Cut it off on both side,pull out the remaining bits of wire.You have to enlarge the hole in the rubber grommet to reinsert the cord threw it,a heated wire the size of the cord works well to enlarge the hole.Run cord thew grommet splice wires,solder wires if you have a soldering iron makes the best repair,splice wires offset from each other,so they are not all sliced at same location.Use a good tape to isulate the spliced area on each wire,about 1/2 of tape per splice,Scotch Super 33+ Premium Vinyl Electrical Tape. Once you have taped each wire, tape all the wires together, for better isulation.Reinslall wire harness & test mouse.

It is very likely one of the wires came loose inside the mouse itself. There are 4 black foot pads on the bottom of the mouse. With the batteries removed, pry off the four feet and remove those four screws. You will see two tiny brown wires that correspond to the mouse button.
Examine these two smaller brown wires and ensure they are not loose or have become disconnected from the small computer chip inside. The two smaller brown wires are on the interior of the chip and should be soldered to the board, opposite a larger brown wire and a larger white wire. The two larger wires, brown and white go back into the main cable that connects inside the laptop.
If these four wires appear to be intact, the next step would be to remove the two larger screws in the central blue piece with two larger holes on either side. This will release the mouse from the base. Examine the two solder points where the two brown wires are connected for any breaks. If these look good, there are two more screws that hold this chip in place. remove them and examine the button of the mouse.
