After turning off the base, I tried to connect my Samsung S3 to the SS2W via the 3.5mm to 2.5mm connector and it just doesn't recognize it at all. The instruction manual says it should show "Mobile" when you connect a cell phone but I get nothing. I tried it with other phones and it doesn't work also.

Always shutting down

Does your device successfully turn on (you see the homescreen or lockscreen) and then off? Or you cannot turn it on completely.

For the first case, there may be a system error. You can try formatting everything via recovery, but all the data will be lost.

For the second case, I suggest that you take your phone to an authorized Samsung service center. This case calls for a professional mechanic help.

Samsung YP-S3 not recognized by computer

I think you have answered the question yourself. Change the USB cable.
If that doesn't make any difference try searching for the hardware again. Check the settings and drivers are working. Roll back the driver etc.

I have an LS4071 with an RL474 base. The cable has the PS2 Keyboard end. Scanner gets a good scan but no data goes into the computer. Testing with notepad open to receive the scan.

When I connected this scanner (purchased at a great discount through eBay) to my computer using the keyboard wedge (with a ps2 connection - the round connector) I received the error message that my computer could not recognize this external hardware. I went to barcodediscount.com and ordered the usb connector for this scanner as usb connections are usually recognized. The part # for this connector is STI85-0200R. It cost 72.55 with shipping, but I received the scanner at such a wonderful price that I thought I'd chance it and try it with a usb rather than a keyboard wedge connector.
The computer immediately recognized the usb connection, and the usb connector comes with a manual with codes to enable proper scanning, but still no luck getting the data into the computer. So I called Symbol's technical support department. The technician told me to remove the rubber "boot" at the bottom of the hand held scanner (not the scanner base) by pulling on the front of it (where the 2 little round circles are). It's tough to remove, but keep at it. Then gently remove the battery and unplug it, then plug it back in and reattach the base. He said this would reset the battery. Voila!!!! Sucess!!!!

If your scanner's keyboard wedge connection is recognized (a little popup window will say that it is a Symbol barcode scanner and that it is installed and ready to use), try taking the battery out and putting it back in to reset it. Hopefully this will also work for you. Symbol's technical support # is (800) 722-6234.

I plug in my Samsung YP-s3 mp3 player and it won't recognize the mp3 player Microsoft does but the program that came with the player doesn't recognize that the device is plugged in how do i fix this...

Had the same problem. It has to do with it being an MPD device that requires certain USB drivers. There is a simple fix. Firstly, install Windows Media Player 11. Next, with your Samsung installation CD installed and your S£ connected to your computer via the USB lead, go to Control Panel/System/Hardware and then click on Device Manager. The S3 will appear with a question mark symbol. Double click on it and then select 'reinstall driver'. Your computer will then scan the installation disc and install the required driver. If you don't have MP11 installed, it won't find the driver on the installation disc.
