Why My Inspiron mini will not start?

Hi,

It is unfortunate that the computer is not turning on. Request you to try following the below steps which might help:

    (1)Turn off the computer.
(2)Remove all the external peripherals like AC Adaptor, flash drives, battery, etc.
(3)Press and hold the power button for 30sec which releases the static on the computer (if any)
(4)Put back the battery and plug in the AC Adaptor.
(5)Let the computer charge for some time.
    (6)Try turning on the computer.
If the computer doesn't turn on then check hoe the Power LEDs on the system, battery and AC Adaptor react. Then I can check and help you further.

    Thanks and Regards.

Hi my presario cq62 battery is not charging can u help me

There are 4 things this could be:
1.) There may be an issue with your outlet/power strip. Try plugging the power cable into a different outlet.
2.) The power cable's brick (that box-like component in the middle of the cable) may have gone bad. Some bricks will have a green LED on them to show when they are operating properly. If the LED is OFF, you need to replace the power cable. If it's ON, the cable is probably OK. If there is no LED, test with a multi-tester.
3.) Your battery may be bad and, therefore, cannot charge. The steps to test this are below (after #4).
4.) You're DC jack (the part inside of your laptop which the power cable plugs into) has broken solder joints due to too much tugging of the power cable over time. The steps to test this are below.
For issues 3 and 4, try the following: 1.) Remove the battery, 2.) Plug the power cable into the laptop, 3.) Try to turn ON your laptop.
If your laptop can power ON, then the power cable and DC jack are working fine and your battery needs replaced. If checking the brick's LED (Issue #2) has proven the power cable is fine, AND the laptop does not power ON, then you need the DC Jack resoldered (PC shop).
I hope this is helpful and best of luck!

My battery is low and when I plug the power cord into the laptop the light that was on on the adapter turns off and my laptop will not turn on. I have a Dell Inspiron 6400

I'm assuming you are using a GENUINE Dell laptop charger designed for this model?

Check the end of the adaptor, if it is the type that has the centre pin, make sure it has not snapped off.
Check the adaptor is putting out 20 volts DC by connecting a multimeter to the outer and inner parts of the DC jack.

Usually, the ac adaptor LED will flash green if there is no charge going to the laptop ("spitting back power"), however, a dead adaptor is often recognised by a lack of the lED light glowing

You can try with a universal adaptor, it will not charge the battery but at least will eliminate the charger or the charging circuit. If this also fails to power up the laptop, then the issue lies with damage to the motherboard

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

Your power adapter is bad and is not able to charge the battery at all (which is why the battery is dead). Yes, this is common with laptops because of the constant plug in and plug out. Yo can purchase a new adapter for less than $25.00 on eBay. Anywhere else it will cost three times more.

Once you replace the adapter, the battery will get a full charge and you will be up and running again.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will assist.

Compaq armada 7400 does not turn on

Please turn off the Computer and disconnect the AC Adaptor then remove the Battery. Next, try cleaning the metal contacts on the Battery and reseating the RAM modules. Then, connect only AC Adaptor to the Computer and try to turn it ON without the Battery. If the Computer doesn't turn ON then disconnect the AC Adaptor and insert the Battery then try turning ON the Computer. If the issue persists even after performing all the above steps then service will be required.

Powering off

Actually, if it is beeping as though the battery is low even while it is plugged in, it is because the battery is no longer any good and is sucking all the power from the wall. You need to purchase a new battery. Until you get a new battery, you can simply remove the battery and use the laptop plugged in. That will stop it from turning off. Been there - done that. Hope that helps! ; )

Laptop will not turn on.

plug it into the wall , most newer laptops will have a power boost while plugged into AC.
check your power cable receptical on the back of the laptop, these are notorious for getting loose.
check the cable on the ac adaptor, these are bad for getting breaks that you cant see in them (run your hand down the cable physically and fell for any breaks while unplugged, then do it again plugged in and watch for lights to flicker on the computer.
look for the power light on the laptop to come on when you plug the adaptor in. if you get a light on the adaptor and on the computer, then the adaptor isnt the issue.
the next step is checking the power button and power supply.. post what your results are here and we'll move to the next step if not resolved.
Regards!

I have a laptop and there seems to be a light currently flashing orange along the front. Ive searched everywhere to find out whats happened but the laptop won't switch on at all. Its a toshiba Prestege...

The flashing light on the front of your laptop is a low battery warning. There probably isn't enough power in the battery to turn on the laptop. You need to plug in the ac power adaptor and let the battery charge until the battery light turns from 'orange', to 'green'.
