SOURCE: Technics SL-B2 Frequency Generator Servo Automatic Turntable will not play

hello

You need a belt.. Lift up the record support..(platter) Underneath you will see a metal post.. Belt goes around that and the bottom of the plate.(there is a rim) . If the belt is there, motor might be bad..

Your best bet is to get a good quality switch contact cleaner to clean all the contacts on the speed control switches.
I guess the contacts inside the switches will have corroded slightly with your turntable having been stored in the garage.

SOURCE: i PURCHASED A LIKE NEW TECHNICS SL BD27 TURNTABLE.

Yes you need a pre amp

It would also be the same if you connected it to a computer to record an LP to CD. Mine is a little different and has one already built in that I can switch in and out of line.

Try spend a little more if you can as many pre amps can introduce noise.

You may also want to check that the turntable is properly grounded to prevent noise too

The platter on my direct drive technics SL 6 turntable will not spin

so your fuse ain't burned , but the platter won't spin. I have here the service manual elektrotanya com , but it ain't a beginners job,
and you need the right gear. It has quite a lot ic's and a driver-ic
, but don't spend to much money in it. The service manual is good to understand and if you follow it, you might see probably somewhere a broken capacitor, which is easy to replace, but later they ask for an oscilloscope and I don't think you have one.
So then you have to call a real technics expert and those are few.
Good luck

How do I change belt on a Technics linear SL -H350 turntable

http://www.archive.org/details/Turntable_Belt_Installation

above video should help. if your platter is "stuck" then call them for tips. also make sure it does NOT say "direct drive" on the front of the unit.

presuming you are talking about the SL-H350 as in the body not the SL-DZ1200 as in the title

Technics sl-1610 mk 2 turntable

Unfortunately, it does sound like a drive issue. Just so you know, these units are direct drive, so there is no physical motor. It's just a bunch of various circuits which drive the unit, and if any one of them go bad, it will affect your turntable speed. You will need to have this looked at by a service technician to determine which circuit is faulty.
