Kenmore model 2495-4301. When closing the lid to begin any cycle, there's a metal clicking sound coming from the area of the bottom. The agitator will not move in any cycle. Just that clicking sound..

I had a similar problem with my washer. It was clicking, but the agitator was moving fine. The clicking was coming from the centrifugal switch. After checking the capacitor I was about the give up and call a repair tech. Then I noticed the Speed Selector was set between Delicate and Normal. I moved the selector to a proper position and the washer stopped making the clicking noise and is working correctly.

Wahing machine will not wash

the entire agitator is not moving during the wash??? or just the top section that looks like a big plastic corkscrew???
or is the unit actually just filling with water, making the motor running noises and going thru the motions of running a cycle yet not actually moving anything within the unit, then draining out as normal??
if just the top section of the agitator is free spinning instead of ratcheting as normal you'll need to replace the agitator dogs if present.
if however the units just filling and draining of water with no inner movement then more likely the drive coupling is bad and needs replacement..
hope this helps,
best of luck,
ttfn

Agitator making clicking noise when washing clothes; clothes wrapping around agitator

Hi,
If this a whirlpool brand washer, there are sone parts bad in the agitator it's self. These parts are called dogs and they make the agitator rachet so that the top half only goes one direction. Does this sound like what you are experiencing? If so, let me know and I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Maytag MAV7000 AWW washing machine agitator won't spin freely.

When you grab the fabric dispenser and move the agitator "counter "clockwise you should hear the rachet noise, once you try and move it back "clockwise" the fabric dispenser should slide inside the agitator and the agitator should NOT move.

Maytag top load performa, put clothes in , fill up and now the agitator is noisey, looked under washer belt appears to be loose 2-3 inches in play, should I replace belt,or something else to repair noise...

thats normal tension on the belt if the agitator is making noise the cams within the agitator are worn (loud clicking or popping noise during wash) the agitator will need to be replaced
