Don't know if your problem exactly like mine, but playing back recordings in the camera always have weak sound. However when editing the clips using Imagemixer 3 on your computer, the sound is louder and you can boost it even further with the "Adjust Volume" function of Imagemixer.

What hard drive is used in wj-hd316a

The hard disk is divided into three partitions: "Normal Recording,"

"Event Recording," and "Copy." Image data is automatically

recorded to the appropriate partition according to the recording

mode. For the normal recording partition, the data is overwritten

when the capacity is full. The event recording partition prohibits

overwriting to protect data. Copy partition prepares data for

retrieval to external medium.

Hard Disk Partitioning Function* automatically

selects the partition to be recorded.

RAID5 distributes image data to multiple hard disks in the

extension unit. Upon hard disk breakdown, lost data can be

restored from other hard disks. When using one WJ-HD300A

Series unit, mirroring function is available for data backup.

Panasonic usb?

The camera end of the cord should be a "standard" plug same as fits some/most digital still cameras and at least some cell phones.

If your camera is like my SDR-H200, you have to remove the battery and run the camera with the AC adapter, and the USB cord goes into a little trapezoid-shaped hole in the lower-rear part of where the battery was.

Is this when you are recording via CH 3 from a separate source? If so, try CH 4 or alternately, L1, L2 inputs.

Panasonic DVD problems

sorry to say but both of these sound like loader problems.ie the optics are faulty, you have to replace the full assy called a loader assy when this happens.Panasonic are the only company who offer part exchange tru authorised dealers.ie send back the faulty one and they will give reduced price on new one,.As to other makes see a lot of sonys with optic problems as well so isint just a panasonic problem. You could also try using ordinary dvdrs instead of ram discs as the optic has to work harder when recording and playing ram disc due to information contained.Hope I helped!
