If your using copies then some dvds wont read them even if the old one did, sometimes its a gamble if it reads or not, if your using a master then i would have them check it out, it may be bad or need programing, it funny because sometimes it will play a copy and sometimes not, thats what i've run into. hope this helps.
Hello, This DVD player unfortunately does not support most of the Copied DVD /CDs. it works stemless with only genuine / original CD and DVDs.. If your DVD or CD originallly recorded by manufacturers but still can not read , than I recommend you to obtain and apply it to clean your laser eye of the DVD player. Hope it will solve your problem. Please remembr to vote me too.. Regards Compatible disc formats: DVD, CD, CDR, CDRW, Video CD
There maybe a problem with the optic lens (dirt) try to clean it very gently with cotton, also the motor plate that holds the cd/dvd is not holding it very well so it not rotates at proper speed try to clean the both sides where the hole of the cd/dvd is when it´s inserted, if you think that you migth not have skills for that don´t do it.

I have had this same problem on my Toshiba. I went through the Control Panel and their were settings for the dvd player it used. You can change settings and they sometimes change automatically.
