Hotpoint wf540 Machine has stopped before final spin and the door remains locked with a full load inside. Please help

sounds like water valve problem

That means that the machine detected a problem at a certain point of the cycle and stopped.

If the machine stops when filling check the inlet valve and the water supply.

If it stops because ofervilling check the water level switch.

If it stops when the cycle is hot water only , then check the heating element.

If it stops when draining, then inspect drain filter, drain pump , and drain hose. You access the drain hose removing a panel at the front side of the machine.

If it stops when motor is supposed to spin faster (rinse) then it is motor control unit or motor coupler.

If it is none of the above, then it is a defective control board.

check pump/filter/outlet hose for blockages. if ok, check pressure switch (disc shaped item at top of machine with 4? wires and a tube) by blowing into it gently - should hear clicks, then blow into tube to pressure chamber - should be clear.

Try cleaning the filter first, normally accessed at the bottom R/H side of unit at the front.
If not, replace water pump (approx £35 for part) good luck!
