Transporter turns over but won't catch

My 76 Transporter ran last summer and fall. It was garaged over the winter. The battery was completely dead, so I replaced it this morning. It turns over, but it won't start. Any thoughts?

You need to find the current drain. Charge the battery, then disconnect the Negative terminal. Now connect a 12v tester or a automotive lamp between the terminal and the battery post. This will put the tester/lamp in series with the current flow and they will light if there is any current drain. So assumming the light is on, now pull fuses one at a time until the light goes out. Remember to keep the door light switch from being activated as that will cause it's own current flow. Do not turn on the ingition since the failure happened over night while the truck was off and closed. There will be a normal very small current flow all the time to power the radio preset memory and perhaps an alarm but that flow will barely light the lamp. If the lamp is blown due to a real high current flow then you will neet an ammeter with about a 50 amp current rating.

You likely need a new starter. The whining is the starter motor slipping.
Hope this was helpful.

SOURCE: 2009 HHR won't start. Battery is good.

Is the security light on or blinking? If not then do you have power to the starter. You can check this with a test light. You should have power when you turn the key to start. The test light should light up.Should be the small wire.I believe it is purple in color. If the security light is on then you will have to get the codes to see what is causing the no start.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: Car won't start, battery is good, won't even turn over.

These vehicles are prone to failures in the antitheft system. This will actually lock out the starter and/or injectors. Read thru this link, might be your problem.

I asked this guestion last year but got no response. 1998 Mark VIII runs very rough in cold weather. Started it this last spring (cool weather) ran rough. Used it all summer ran fine Please help.

Probably a lean fuel issue . Engine coolant temperature sensor reading warmer than it actually is causing a too lean mixture , restricted injectors, restricted fuel filter , weak pump or bad regulator on return systems causing too low of fuel pressure , Mass Air Flow contamination .

1998 BMW M3, winter garaged until past month. AC ran great first time out.Now turns on & off.Mostly off. Acts like a loose wire. Is that possible? New coolant last fall.

It's turning on and off for a reason. Have your Mechanic check your a/couple and see how much freon it has. It could be that it had to much, or it needs some

Hi! I've had a 2004 VW Jetta since last November (had 39K on it). It has worked perfectly throughout the winter and spring. Not that it's summer, I've had a small intermittent problem: after...

POSSIBILITY HERE IS THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS ACTING UP. THE REASON IS BECAUSE WITH THE WARMER TEMPERATURES THE PUMP HAS TO WORK MORE AND THIS WILL CAUSE IT TO MALFUNCTION

Keep the gasline antifreeze in for moisture at the pumps and if not running 5W30 weight oil could make a differance as well.........Hope this helps.
