I have been trying to record guitar tracks on my computer. I lay down a rythmn track it sounds great. I then try to record a guitar solo along with the rhythmn track. I t sounds perfect when I am plaing it. When I play it back the two tracks are out of sync. I have tried different sound cards and different programs but it is still out of sync. Please advise.
Most recording programs have a some way to keep tracks in sync. It is usually some type of begining and end marker. When you press record for the second track it starts the begining marker. What is the program your using?
depending on the device your using to get you live feed into the pc this can be true. I personally use a presonus fp10,,,some devices like this allow you to mix the live sound and the recorded sound so that the latency is un-noticable. Check in your recording window, that on the top marker bar, that your tracks are lined up.

Right now I am using Audacity. I set it in the preferences section to do multitrack recordings. I still have this problem even when I use other programs such as Krystal. I was told this was a latency problem or a buffer problem.
I am simply plugging my guitar into the sound card of my computer. I am not using any other devices.
