SOURCE: Missing Drives for Dell Optiplex GX260 PC Desktop Problem

if you don't have the cd with the drivers and utilities, then you can download the drivers online with another computer. (you will need a thumb drive or cd to save it on) you will also need to make sure you know what brand of ethernet card your computer came with. once you get that ethernet card working, you can get online and download the remaining drivers, possibly through windows update. be sure to select custom update, not express, so it will search for the hardware drivers for you.

SOURCE: ethernet driver for dell dimension 4600

Hi stefyboy - Below is a link where you can download your driver. After you get to the page just make sure it says Windows XP as the operating system. Then scroll down and click on the + next to where it says network. You want the intel 10/100 driver. I've included a few a ways to install it. If your kinda new to this the easiest is the download to desktop method and just remember where it unzipped it to, you can always move it to a driver directory where you can keep all your drivers for the future.

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, DO NOT RATE YET. Just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be glad to assist you further. Thanks.

SOURCE: no ethernet controller in device manager

You need to flash the cmos.. To do this open it up and look for a switch inside the system., press for 5 seconds and release.

If you cant find the switch or there isnt one, then locate the battery on the board (its a big watch battery) pry it off, hold the power button down for 1 minute, the press it 5 times, replace the battery.

NB: UNPLUG THE SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE ABOVE. Once this is done follow the onscreen instructions to enter the bios or setup, load optimised defaults then save and exit. Your device will now show up in the device manager.

My dell xps 410 will not go online thru either of the ethernet ports on the computer. im using my phone with usb tether and it goes online fine. it says it need the ethernet controller driver but...

Hello, look at this link, you should have installed the bottom driver, but take care! if you've got a LAN card as well, you might have got the MOBO one disabled in bios, so best to take out the LAN card, find out what it is and look for a driver for it, meanwhile, with it removed, install the LAN driver for the MOBO LAN port, (bottom driver on this link ) and see if it appears in your 'Network Connections' (Check in bios to see if it's been disabled, though)

Ethernet controller driver

If you need the ethernet controller driver (I guess this is what you are looking for--you didn't really ask a question), you need to go to the Acer site and look for the support link to the computer model you have. You'll find the drivers there.

How to check if I have an internal microphone on my dell Studio XPS 435 with windows 7?

Find the speaker icon in the task bar. Usually lower right hand side near the time and date location. Right click on it and select recording device. In the window that opens you should see a microphone icon and be able to talk and see the level change on the bar graph. If the mic is there but no audio moves I'd go ahead and double click the microphone icon and another window tab will open up. Look at all the sitting in those tabs for anything that maybe muting the mic.
