Vista themes i have windows vista ultimate i downloaded the vista themes but themes are not installing in one of the vista theme the help page on notepad said " to install the theme copy the folder to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes Then just click on the Windows 7.msstyle and apply the style" but it didn't work.i had read recently read that there are some softwares to install the themes is it real?

First, to make custom themes work in Vista you have to patch vista.
You can read on how to do that on these sites:

You can then get themes from these places:

1. VistaKnowledge.com
2. wvistathemes.com

To install a theme you have to unpack the file you downloaded to:
X:WindowsResourcesThemes
(X is the harddrive where you have vista installed)

After this you can doublecklick the .theme file to load the theme. :)

go to in.com and press downloads then press sofware and in the list of soft ware find vista mizer. download it and install. all theams of vista will come. you can run these theams on your existing window xp.

Have you tried window blinds? You can get it from here just click download on the page that opens up.

There a loads of themes that it lets you put on your computer. You can get tons of themes from here. I found a nice vista theme here. SImply download it and install it. However it is only a trial. You need to buy the full version to keep it after 30 days, although its quite cheap and an excellent program.

If you want a free option there not much around, but you could try the "Zune" theme here. This makes the start bar and windows black which is quite nice.

Step 1: Download Windows Vista UxTheme patch.
How to install
1. Login as a user with Administrative privileges -or- have Administrative credentials ready (check under the keyboard for a slip of paper).
2. Navigate to %systemroot%\System32
3. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.
4. Take ownership of the file and close dialogs.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll
6. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.
7. Give yourself (or group) Full Control permissions and close dialogs.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll.
9. Rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old.
10. Rename themeui.dll to themeui.old.
11. Rename shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.
12. Copy patched files into %systemroot%\System32
13. Reboot

Step 1b: If you find the above too intimidating, download VistaGlazz and just run it, it automates the whole patching process so you don’t have to worry about it!

Step 2: Download a Windows Vista Visual Style from a free Windows Vista Themes gallery, and copy the theme to Windows/Resources/Themes folder.
Step 3: Right click on desktop and click on Personalize. From the page that pops up, click on Theme and choose your newly installed theme!

just download and install whatever themes u want in desktop,
and copy the theme files into c:\windows\resources\themes
and u find ur themes in process
