It's paired properly and my computer's device manager shows the bose soundlink as being linked. However my computer continues to play audio through the computer speakers and not the soundlink. I've reconnected the soundlink several times. I've disconnected the device from the computer and resynced it. I've also tried playing around with some settings but nothing has worked. I'm running windows 7 professional. Looking around I found the solutions for Macs but unfortunately it doesn't help me. Thanks for your help.
Hi Sirtuan.
Go to the system panel, there choose "sound" . a list with all available sound devices appear. search for your bose soundlink and make it your "standard device".
had the same prob. with my BT headset and this works for me.
if your bose get disconnected the sound should automatically switch to pc speakers.
Regards
Gue.
Hi Gue. Thanks for your response. I went under Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, then devices and printers. There I found the Bose Soundlink. However it did not give me an option of setting the soundlink as the Standard device. I looked everywhere and could not do it. Not sure if it's because I'm running Windows 7 and you're running something else. Thanks

SOURCE: No sound from Bose SoundDock
I had this problem on my SoundDock. My iPod would charge on the dock just fine and when I played my iPod on the dock, it would look like it was playing, but have no sound. Since my Bose was out of warranty, this is what I did to fix it. #1 Unplug the adapter. #2 Unscrew the four large screws on the bottom of the speaker and the three small screws under the dock. #3 You'll see one long ribbon connection and one very short one. Check to see if the ribbon connector coming from the front of the speaker system came loose from the green board. You'll only be able to see 1/2 an inch of it sticking out, and it's not easy to plug it back in, but it's possible. Just take your time. #4 Carefully put everything back together being very careful not to let the ribbon fall out of the plug again. #5 Make sure to plug in the DC adapter the correct way. There's a very subtle difference, but there is a difference. There are four prongs - two are square and two have slightly rounded corners. If it's not plugged in the correct way, the dock will have a static clicking sound. On my adapter, the words "DC power" are on the top of the plug.

Is the connector on the bottom of the ipod making good connection when it is plugged in? Try moving the ipod around a little.

One or both of the connectors may be damaged or there may a "dry joint" where connector is soldered onto the circuit board within the docking station. Alternatively, there may be some dirt or dust stuck between the connectors causing a poor connection. You can try sharply blowing into the connectors or try using a small brush such as an electric razor cleaning brush to remove any dirt/dust. If this doesn't resolve the issue you need to try connecting another iPod to the docking station and see if you still get the static noise problem. If not then the problem is probably confined to your iPod only.

Check with a magnifying glass if any of the pins on the iPod connector is loose. Push each pin with a needle while you watch in the magnifying glass to see if any of the pins are moving.
If it is loose you either need to solder it back again (which requires very good soldering skill) or you can buy a new PCB at http://www.chargeconverter.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=37
