Most likely evaporator coils are iced near solid...few hours unplugged would have helped just a little...needs major defrosting though.
The automatic defrost cycle will never fix it when it gets this bad...if it's still working yet.

I have one of these and have had to use heat gun/ hair dryer more than once to defrost it.

Probably the cause...which will need fixed or it will do it again sooner or latter...is the melted frost/ice goes down a little drain tube and dumps into tray to evaporate above coils...this tube gets plugged first with dust and then when melted frost drains and stands in tube the tube get plugged with frozen water.

You see it is important to unplug or fridge will self destruct.

GE TFX26KRDA WW 2001 side by side refrig/freezer w warm fridge

Cleaned the condenser coils which were dusty but not severely so. Checked the evaporator coils which were NOT iced. Reset the fridge to coldest setting and freezer to #5 (mid range of temperature) and waited a full 36 hours. Fridge temp is 40 F and freezer is about 0F. Not sure what is different except coldest setting on fridge. Warm weather is here but not warm enough to require AC. Temps in late afternoon in house about 77-80F. Any thoughts are appreciated because I suspect this problem is not completely resolved.

Our refidgerater is not cold enough running at about 50 degrees

hows the freezer?? is only the refrig warm and freezer still frezzing?? if so id open the freezer door and listen for a fan motor, it should be spinning to circulate air to the top sect(refrig). if not on sounds like a bad fan.. if the fan is on but the rear panle is completly iced over, sounds like a defrost issue

11 year old amana bottom freezer icemaker drips water when filling tray

Hello dunc444444
Welcome,
You said, Bottom freezer works fine, but upper refrigerator has no cold air

Is your freezer so full that it is packed to the top especially in the rear?
Refrigerators and freezers share the air from the compressor and travel through vents in the rear of the freezer and fridge.
Sometimes it can effect the cooling in the fridge if the freezer articles block the vents!

The water overfilling in the ice maker is an ice maker problem only.
When we install an ice maker there is a short white plastic tube that we push through the rear
hole of the fridge which supply's the water to the maker, the outside water line attaches to this.
That tube we push through the fridge must go in till it stops. And empties in to a little sistran at the rear of the ice maker. Make sure it did not sip out or backwards a little when you may have moved
rolled the fridge out to clean under it!

Also you need periodically to remove the front grill down in front of the fridge and gently run a refrigerator brush under the coils to clean out the dust that may block air flow over the coils.(the coils are metal black tubes that run back and forth along the bottom of your fridge.
The vacuum will not reach in to that tight space. That's why they make a special brush for this chore.
Let me know how you do?

Fridge on top of freezer is not chilling

if you have a french door (also known as bottom mount, freezer on bottom) and your fridge sections(cold air blows from freezer to refrig) is not cooling try this

1. ensure you hear the fan running, its it not, thats it(most likely fan motor
IF fan is running check these things
1. ensure refrig section light shuts off by holding down the switch
2. ensure door shuts
3. clean conderser coils (usually accessed from front through base grille)
4. check for icing in vents, freezer section contain them at top or back, and for a bottom mount the refrig sections vents are under your BIG drawer. if iced try a hair dryer from distance. or empty food into another fridge unplug open doors, and plug back in two days later this should defrost all ice build up

Frigidaire side/side refri section warm

Oceanrunner, it looks like a couple of things might be going on: One is how much defrosting did you do. If it was a full defrost, you might have too many door openings going on. This causes condensation. Do a full defrost and then be sure the door is closed when not actually getting things in/out. Don't forget to check to see if your condenser coils are clean. If not, clean 'em! That may fix it.

It is possible that your defrost timer is defective but I think not based on your defrost cycle starting. It is possible that the defrost coil is bad. This means that you'll have to access the coil and check if for continuity. Typically, this is located with the coils and below them in the back of the freezer. One wire on each side. Unplug the box...Wiggle 'em to clear any corrosion... Unplug..If you've got a multimeter, check for about 100 ohms between the terminals...You can then turn the unit on and wait. See what happens. If frosting begins, actuate the defrost cycle. (Frosting should be even after about 5 minutes or so across they pipes. If the gas level is low, the frosting will not be even.)

Some cold water units run through the coils. If they get too cold...they freeze. This is caused by low gas or by frosting from other sources. Don't panic: this unit has an extended warranty on the sealed unit...the compressor and all that...for 5 years. That means the gas, too. Call your manufacturer for service.

Amana ABB2224DES Stainless Steel Bottom Refrigerator is warm however the freezer works fine. How do I solve this problem? I vacuumed the coil and renoved most of the dust accumulation. Is there a way...

check freezer for frost build up and if FAN is blowing, check condenser, make sure its clean, and fan blowing, check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, controls should be in the middle setting, make sure u didnt turn up freezer control cutting air supply to refrigertor side should be 1/2 feel vent coming from freezer see if you feel any air coming in to refrig.

Amana French Door Refrigerator "on" but no cooling; freezer still works

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.
