42inch sanyo vizon flat screen tv bought 18 months ago and paid 2000. dollars for and the picture volume on tv with power on went black. Just broke for no reason.

sanyo is a junk tv, and I will NEVER purchase another....less than 5 years old black clouds on the screen, repairs are cost more than the cost of a new tv.....
It seems to be a PSU (Power Supply Unit) problem. When you unplug it and replug, the screen comes on for a moment. That means that the capacitor does not hold charge for long.
Open the back and look for bulged or burst capacitors on the module where the power cord meets inside. Replace the whole module if you can not replace the capacitor with exactly the same specs.
