Ge xl44 oven not igniting but burners ignite

I have a ge xl44 stove. The burners ignite and turn on fine. The oven when turned on has no hissing sound from gas nor does it ignite. We have had the range for about 6 years.

The most common failure for a nobake on this type of oven is the bake ignitor. turn unit on and look at the bottom of the oven, you should after about 30-45 seconds see an ORANGE glow, if you do not, chances are you have a failed ignitor.Remove lower part of oven and if you have a meter, place one lead on each terminal and check for continuity( a closed circuit)
If you have an "open" circuit, the ignitor is bad

GE XL44 Gas Stove and Oven. Everything works normal except the oven which stopped working suddenly (no flame). Couldn't find the manual to check troubleshooting guide.

The oven uses a silicone carbide ignitor which requires 3.6 amps or better to open the gas safety valve.
If you don't see any glow from it then it is either blown or the gas valve has gone bad. If it is glowing but not real bright it probably is weak.
How it works: Silicone Carbide Ignition

My oven will not heat up the ignitor does not glow, everything else works model# jgbp26bea1wh xl44 series

the hot surface igniter can be tested for continuity
using a mutitester normally will have a reading somewhere around ten ohms can be visually examined for an area with white and a thin line where it is broken make sure oven is not set on timed bake voltage to igniter can also be tested will be around 120volts use caution whenever testing
cab unplug stove attach lamp to wiring and plup back in turn stove to back verify power to igniter to verify problem is igniter

Bottom burner in my oven barely comes on, in turn, not heating my oven to the temperature that is selected. Top burner (or broiler seems to work fine). The gas stove is a GE XL44 and is 6 years old. Please...

You need a new t-stat control. Your element is fine. Give us a call with your complete model number and we'll get the right part out to you asap to get you ready for the winter.

Where is the pilotlight on a ge xl44 gas stove I belive it is in the door under the oven well I turned the gas on and stuck a flame down there and nothen took off is there a certian place to put the flame....

In general lets be clear. The OVEN pilot is located under the oven door at the top of the Broiler. It is a small piece of metal just before the GAS safety Valve which acts on temperature so gas won't flow unless Pilot is lit,That's the OVEN PILOT.The stove's RANGE is the top burners where you heat Pots and Pans.It has either 2 Pilot lights that connect the burners to the Flame they are under the Range Top.Newer Models use electronic ignitions no flame. Please note if you had your stove/oven disconected or Gas off when you turn it back on there will be air in the line that needs to escape before you light. This is why in NYC when Utility Co.works on steet main the MUST re-light your appliances.Be Careful with Gas.Good Luck.

Replaced gas safety valve, burner flame now too hot

Take a 1/2 inch open end wrench and tighten the orifice on top of the safety valve.Probably about 2 turns. Then adjust the air shutter to mostly open.

CHECK THE IGNITOR, IT SHOULD BE GLOWING ORANGE BEFORE GAS IGNITES. IF NO GLOW, REPLACE IGNITOR.

XL44 Gas Range will not light

Kinda sounds like the hot surface igniter is out. It is located under the oven section under the bottom panel. They are relatively easy to replace except you need that oven today I'm sure. Let me know how it turned out.

To replace the hot surface you need to take the bottom panel off and access the assy you need a 1/4 nut runner and remove couple small screws unplug the igniter take it to a parts house and 12 to 20 dollars later you're good as gold. When I say parts house appliance parts.

GE XL44 gas oven

hi thanks for the question just because the igniter lights up doesn't mean its good, the gas will not light, if igniter isn,t hot enough. and a very common problem is that the igniter does come on, but not hot enough to ignite the gas . replace the igniter thanks the appliance doc

My GE Xl44 gas burners will not ignite

If there is no spark at all then the circut is not being completed. The main problem that I had was that there was no ignition even though there WAS a spark and gas. I cleaned out the small pin hole sized inlet on the gas valve with a needle. This allowed the gas to enter the feeder and distribute the gas towards the ignition spark properly.

Also it is very important that the range be level. If there is a pitch to the range the gas may be exiting the distribution cap improperly resulting in improper distribution!
