Why is water leaking from the inside bottom of refrigerator?

There is water under the crisper drawer that is eventually leaking our of the refrigerator. It appears to come from the freezer area but I am not sure of that. It sometimes accumulates on the lower shelf behind the crisper drawer and freezes.

Hay Lola , your drain hose is clogged open the back panel and blowdry all the ice until the water drains good luck APPLIANCES R EN

  • Lola Melinsky Mar 15, 2013

I understand that the reason there is water is because the drain is clogged. What I can't figure out is how do I get to the drain and the hose on my particular refrigerator. I posted the maker and model number but received information for other makers refrigerators. It seems each one is different. So I would appreciate any suggestions for a Magic Chef model # CTN1511AEW. Thanks everyone for all your help! Lola

SOURCE: water accumulating in bottom of freezer and leaking onto floor

Yes the drain is clogged and the water that supouse to go through became ice so it make it worse.Put hot water in the drain hole until it runs through,it'll go to an evaporative pan on top of the compresor to keep it warm and vaporize the water.

SOURCE: water drips from freezer into refrigerator

The drain is clogged..you need to see if it has a rubber drain trap going into the back side of refrigerator. if so, twist and turn as you pull it out and clean it..replace and then check that drain is open..if no drain trap on back side of refrig..remove freezer wall and open drain from inside freezer..you need to clean out drain trough using hot water..a little messy, but effective

Sounds like a clogged drain line. Find the drain and blow or clean out the clog. Drain usually travels from the freezer coil area down to the drip pan, which is usually back bottom.

Water in bottom left crisper drawer and under drawer

I'm sorry to say that it sound as though your door gasket may no longer be sealing correctly.

For me, it's simply a task of getting a replacement gasket for that make and model.

To remove the old one you would, simply, peel the inside of the gasket toward the outside of the edge of the door revealing the mounting screws. Remove these screws all the way around and replace with the new one in the same fashion...

The reason that I recommend this is that humid air outside of the refrigerator can seep past a worn gasket and condense on the inside surfaces making its way to the bottom and into those drawers.

Then get a turkey baster and fill it with hot water. Insert it in the drain in the bottom and squeeze it cleaning the drain. Several applications will solve the problem, and do not forget the freezer side as well.
Good Luck,

I have a roper RT21AKXGW00 refrigerator and water settles in the bottom of it and in the crisper draws, is this some sort of blockage?

I have the same model refrigerator and don't have a solution but I think I have more information on the problem. In mine, water will leak periodically from the condenser leading up to the freezer (inside the refrigerator, at the top, center, back of the main compartment). I have seen it leak and it isn't a constant leak but when it leaks it can pour out at a pretty high rate.
In mine, the water will collect in the deli drawer (near the top), the crisper drawers at the bottom, and under the crisper drawers. When it happens, I use a sponge to soak it up and wring into a bowl.
To minimize the impact, I have set up a cup or dish near the back of the fridge to catch the leak. I empty this every couple weeks or whenever it fills up, but I'm looking for more information on a fix (I think the problem has to do with the condenser - that's the lead I got when I found this post).

Water is forming on the floor. Appears the water is pooling under the crisper drawer, then seeps through the seal. GE TBX 18CI. Any ideas?

You should not have any water at all forming inside the frig compartment unless you have a water dispenser on the frig. The water resevoir is located in the frig compartment at the bottom behind crisper. There may be a small leak or loose water connection on it. Hope this helps.
