I EMAILED VIZIO ABOUT MY PROBLEM. THEY RESPONDED IN 3 DAYS. THE TECH AND I THEN TRADED A COUPLE OF EMAILS. HE CONFIRMED THE INFO ABOUT THE TV WITH ME. HE EMAILED ME THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND PART NUMBER. IT WAS THE MAIN BOARD. I ORDERED THE PART AT VIZPARTS.COM FOR ABOUT 180.00. INSTALLED IT MYSELF AND THE TV WORKS FINE. I WISH IT HAD BEEN UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT WAS 18 MONTHS OLD AND THE WARRANTY WAS FOR 12 MONTHS.

wife heard a "pop" from the behind the tv (Vizio GV47L, 2 yrs old, outta warranty). I unplugged from power, plugged it back in...vizio logo glows amber, then pressed "on" button (touchpanel) and vizio logo turns white, touchpanel for controls stays lit, but no video, no sound...just a big black hole on my livingroom wall now... Vizio tech support was useless (I spent 5 minutes explaining to the tech - if ya wanna call her a tech - that there was no input "button" on this tv...no "buttons" at all....)... does this sound like the same problem you experienced experienced with your tv, Bytch1????

My vizio was 368 days old yes 3 days out of warranty and it made a loud whistling noise and went black, it powers on but i have the same 900 dollar black hole on my wall. Vizio tech support sucked all they told me to do was hold the power button down for 15 minutes. The warranty guy barely spoke english and they were no help either. But hey our 26 inch 10 year old RCA is working great..... Is there any affordable way to fix this

Anytime you hear a pop then it is something on blown the power board. I disagree with on their tech support.

This TV has 2 main circuit boards (2 LCD backlight controlers): the Power Supply board may have fried the video board on it's way out ...
You can either arange to have the TV replaced under warenty if not have it serviced. In any case best of luck with Vizio support line.

Everyone bought this TV because it was so cheap... now we find out why: Vizio cuts corners on everything from engineering to support!! All brands are not created equal. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

the capacitors on the power board would cause the issues you are having. If you look at the capacitors and they look swollen , then they are probably bad.

I have a Vizio GV47L LCD TV. I bought this about 3 years ago. The other day when it was on and working fine, I went in the other room for about 5 minutes and when I came back in it was making a fizzle...

ANy sign of DC filter caps with open top (may be that was the sound you hear was cap is blowing its tops). You need to do some voltage checking and some visual inspection.

You have to remove the heatsink to see the caps under it.
Post back what you see.
