Was on the bus going to work friday morning. Started listening to my
player, freshly charged overnight, like i always do. Got 30 seconds into the song and it turned itself off. Turned
it back on, started listening to 30 seconds of another song and haven't
been able to get it working ever since.

If you have a phone charger with the same connector, plug in you Clip and leave it overnight. This will fully charge the battery. There is not enough power from the USB port.
It sounds like your battery is defective...What i would recommend you to do is to contact sandisk or you can take it to an authorized repair center...If you need the number for sandisk let me know.
I hope that helps

Down load the firmware on Sansa's website. I have a Sansa 250R and it wouldn't work with the new replacement usb (Griffin) cord I bought at Best Buy. So I bought a Sansa Fuze and the cord that came with it worked on the E250R. Huh? Yeah, go figure...and oh, that replacement Griffin usb cord I bought worked fine with the new Fuze. I came real close to buying a new battery for the E250R but instead invested that money in the Fuze.
If you originally used rhapsody (or began in Rhapsody mode) , you have to use rhapsody to remove the songs. If that doesn't work, you can manually open the music folder by enabling "hidden folders" under "tools" -> "folder options..." -> click the "view" tab -> scroll and check "show hidden files and folders". Then go to My Computer -> Sansa e250 -> "system" -> "music" -> then delete the songs. I don't know the effects of using this method, so use it at your own risk.
first you must format the player using msc mode then after that retransfer the songs to the player. If you are receiving this message it means that the songs on the player have expired. This is normal if you download the songs off rhapsody, napster or any online music stores and if you have ripped songs iwht copy protect music on it if you ripped them using windows media player 10.
If the 4gb micro SD is a high capacity SD (it will say micro SDHC on it) your player may not be able to read SDHC cards, my sansa can't because it's the 'older version' it will read 2gb and below micro SD cards though (it sucked when I found out because I had just bought a 6gb micro SDHC)
