Coaxial cable works but not RCA

I intended to connect my TV via the RCA cables supplied with the NS-DXA1-APT. I first set it up using the coaxial cable as a quick check to see if my antenna reception was adequate.
The signal to the TV via the coaxial cable was fine. now I wanted to switch over to the RCA cables and they don't work at all. Is there a one shot limit to connect which locks the other option out? Seems weird, but I've tried several different cable sets and two different TVS and only the coax works. any ideas?

You have a DEFECTIVE box. There is no 'lock out feature on the Insignia. If your cables are ok, and you've tried it on another TV, then its the box.

To connect a blue-ray player SONY BDP-S1700 (Digital Coaxial OUT) to ONKYO TX8511 receiver (2RCA Audio), which cable should I use? Y-Cable 1 RCA(Digital Out) to 2RCA (Audio)?

The digital RCA audio cable is not the same as the analog RCA audio cable. You need a digital audio (input) to analog audio (output) converter. Amazon has a number of models: https://www.amazon.com/DA-Converters/b?ie=UTF8&node=3224445011 . Many models do not come with audio cables. Thus you'll need to supply the digital coaxial audio cable (see https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Digital-Audio-Compatible-Coaxial/dp/B01D5H8TS4/ref=pd_bxgy_2/134-6585034-3648633?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01D5H8TS4&pd_rd_r=e311c756-6e80-4fd0-8026-16a144c6b41d&pd_rd_w=r0LwZ&pd_rd_wg=4jYy9&pf_rd_p=f325d01c-4658-4593-be83-3e12ca663f0e&pf_rd_r=YVE00Y31KS8TJ3YENVFN&psc=1&refRID=YVE00Y31KS8TJ3YENVFN for one version) and the RCA analog audio cable.

I hope this helps. If your TV has analog audio outputs (2 RCA or headphone jack), you may be able to avoid the converter. Connect the HDMI cable from the BDP-S1700 to the TV, then connect your TV audio out to the Onkyo TX8511. Use either an RCA analog audio cable or a Y-cable (3.5 mm to 2 analog RCA), Set the TV to external speakers if you need to. (Some headphone jacks automatically disable the TV speakers when in use.) You may need to adjust the video to audio sync with this method. Check your TV and Onkyo manuals.

Do you have to have an optical cord from receiver to tv..koss model ks3102..if not i have rca cords were do cords go.

HD broadcasts by TV stations are often broadcast in Dolby Digital. If your TV can output Dolby Digital or HD then you will need to have the TV connected to the receiver via either the optical in, or the coaxial in. If the receiver can get the Dolby signals via the Coaxial and the TV can send them via a Coaxial socket it should work. Don't forget to set your HD set to output Dolby signals. If the TV or Receiver can only send Dolby via the optical you will have to use that. Optical cables can be picked up cheap these days. I have seen them in pound shops!

I am having trouble connecting dvr to dvdvcr to older tv

This can get tricky sometimes. It depends if you're connected the DVR to the tv via RCA cables or coaxial cables. For coaxial, connect from the TV's in to the DVD/VCR combo out. Coaxial from your DVD/VCR in to your DVR out. set your VCR/DVD to channel 3/4 depending on your manufacture as well as your tv. If this doesn't work, usually your tv provider may be able to help you out.

No display

Press the DVD button on the Philips remote. Make sure the yellow part of the RCA cable is plugged into Output/CVBS/Out on the back of the Philips, and that it is plugged into a yellow input of your TV. Change your TV channel to Av1, av2, video 1, video 2, aux, aux 2, or whatever the correct video channel is on your TV. Then press setup - you will get your picture.
In order for the coax connection to work on Ch. 3 of your TV, you will have to get an additional piece of equipment - an RF modulator. It's better just to stick with the RCA red, yellow, white cables.
