Normallly, if the picture size button on the remote for the television does not achieve the desired affect, then, a cable box or a satelite box is where the change needs to be made. For example: A Motorola Cable box needs to be set up to go to a wide screen or zoom when an analog signal is detected. Some Dish Network boxes have Size buttons on their remotes and also in their main menu. It's difficult to determine the repair without knowing the types of the peripherals. Hope this helps.

Flat Screen Insignia TV picture too big? How to adjust picture size?

When the picture is too large there are three possible solutions at least.

Starting with the simplest two: There are buttons on the remote controls (cable/satellite and television) that control the picture size. On the cable remote it is usually on the bottom, and it says hd zoom. Press it and it will size the picture down for you. On the television or satellite remote it might say view mode, picture mode, format or aspect.

Now, the more difficult solution if the above doesn't work: The settings might not be right in the cable box/set top box. If the television is a 720p television, make sure the cable box/set top box is set for 720p and not 1080i even though they're the same (yes, yes I know). Also make sure you are not connecting a cable/set top box to the coaxial rf input when you have the capability to connect to a component or hdmi cable. I hope this helps.

A simple question - My new 42" LG tv is fine -

You should be able to change the aspect ratio to fit the size of your screen. This will be the 16:9 4:3 16:10 settings.

You can access these by going to MENU---> PICTURE -----> Select ratio that works----> exit out and watch TV.

IF this will not fix it you need to look into the signals being fed to the TV as sometimes they can have a funny effect on the output picture. Some cable boxes will alter the picture and then it won't come out right on the TV. If it is all inputs doing this tho then changing just the Aspect ratio on the TV should solve the problem.

I have a toshiba 39"

On the TV remote there will be a button labeled ASPET or PICTURE SIZE or RATIO or ZOOM. Press that button while pointing the remote at the TV. Press it repeatedly until the desired picture size is acheaved. Not the cable remote but the remote that came with the TV.

PICTURE TO LARGE FOR THE SCREEN AND ZOOM ISNT FIXING IT

Your TV set may have settings for picture size ratios but also if you have cable or sattelite service, they too may have these settings. Try both TV and cable remocons for proper adjustment

Picture size is always too big. No matter what the zoom setting or display setting, the image borders fall outside the screen. AKAKI tech support tel # is diconnected.

there are only normally 4 options for picture size, 4:3, 16:9, 16:9 zoom and auto, unless you are using High definition. Any other settings should be found in your cable reciever box as the picture size can be altered in its settings also.
