Do you have a modchip installed in your console? If you do, then probably your games have not been recorded right (at maximum 8x speed with any CD-burning program), or they might be scratched badly. The only help I can give, which means you'll have to buy the real game, is because when you play burnt games it confuses yours PS2 scan laser and after that it gets really confused and doesn't play many games. What you need to do is go buy the actual games. They are not that much at your local gamestop.
I have also envountered problems with dogs life, my only reasonable explination is:
dogs life is most propably written on a normal CD-R,
and sometimes a chipped PS2 struggles to read CD-R games, you will also find that older PSX games wont work either, hope this is of some help.
