Scan and copy lines

I have blurry lines on any hard copies I make, and when I scan something, on the computer image there is a pink line where the blurry lines are on the hard copy.

Black lines on faxes or copies

Do you have black lines in your scanned or copied documents? The typical problem is ink, correction fluid or trash blocking the image sensor. Look at the picture below, the image sensor is marked by the gray box. Use a paper towel dampened with window cleaner to clean this glass strip. Do not spray windows cleaner on the glass just the paper towel. Gently scrub the glass to clean off any trash or marks that may be there. Let the glass dry for a few minutes and then try to copy or scan something.f86a7c5.jpg

You should have a clean copy now. If you have any questions you can contact us at: [email protected]

When scanning and copying get lines

clean the scan glass,it's usually a .5 to1 inch strip of glass that the paper runs over while it is scanned and it probably has white out or something similar on it

When making a copy on our Canon copier (super G3; image class MF4150) we are getting a vertical black line down the entire length of the paper. Is there something we can do to fix it? SG

You can fix this yourself by cleaning the scanner glass. When you insert a document to make a copy it is pulled in and travels over a thin strip of glass. When something gets stuck on this glass it is read or scanned as a solid line. What you need to do is make a copy. Then put that copy in the feeder the same way you put the original document in. Now the line on the copy will "line up" with the area of the glass that has something stuck to it. Use this as a guide to pop open the feeder cover, locate the glass and clean it with a cloth dampened with a bit of glass cleaner. Once you have it cleaned just run a copy again and the line should be gone. Sometimes a small flashlight helps to locate the glass.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Single narrow black vertical line about 1 3/4 inches from right side of copy. Line runs the entire length of the copy. Happens only during copying color or black and white.

Hello,

The line issue is caused by something on the image sensor. To get to it and clean it just pull the front up where you put the paper into it to scan. Inside you will find a glass strip, this is the image sensor. Use a paper towel dampened with window cleaner and gently scrubbing the glass strip, After cleaning the strip let it dry for a minute or teo before you close the cover and try a scan. It should be clear and should copy great again.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Xerox WorkCentre 4150, 3 vertical white lines in all feeder scans

the problem is in the scanner, open it up and see if you can find any smudges, and clean any obstruction, any ink, liquid eraser residuals, can cause this part to appear as lines on your copied faxed image.
dont concentrate on the printer this is a scanner problem

Hp Photosmart c5280 1/ 2inch thick black line

There is something on your scanner glass. Clean the glass with glass cleaner. If this happens when using the automatic document feeder, open the top side cover where the paper feeds into. There is a narrow glass strip there. Clean that as well.

If this fails, the scanner head has a bad sector on the CCD and will need to be replaced. You will probably find that it will be cheaper to replace the printer entirely if that is the case.

My printer prints blurry lines!

Try this: make a copy and stop it when it reaches the cartridge ( has to have image on paper) take out paper and look at it, does it have blurry copies? if yes, then the problem is with the cartidge or (worse) the laser printing device ( expensive).
Take a chance and replace the cartridge.  if still there you need to replace the laser unit.

If it does not have blurry copies when you stop it at the drum then check the fuser unit( doubt it ) to see it it has any writing or toner on it.

Good Luck.

COPY PROBLEM

You have a scanner problem.  You might try and make sure you're using the right plug for it.  If you can figure out how to take the glass off, you should try cleaning all the glass and mirrors.  You should also clean the area just above where the scanner rests when it's not being used (you'll see a white strip there).  If none of this works, you'll probably need a new scanner.  Junk the thing.
