Sending Faxes When I tried to send a fax, it rings, connects and displays that I am sending P1 but the line gets disconnected before going to the second page. I tried sending faxes to differents places with the same result. This problem started today. I have this printer since July 6, 2007. I can receive faxes with no problems. Please help!!!!!!

Are you able to send faxes when using the printer operator panel - not through Lexmark Productivity Suite application on your computer? Are you able to receive faxes without any problems? Make sure the fax line where the printer is connected is working properly. It could be a signal quality in the connection.
You can also try to decrease the transmission speed when sending faxes. On your printer operator panel:

1. Press the Fax button, then press Options 15 times to get to ADVANCED FAX.
2. Press Select.
3. Press Options ten times until MAX SEND SPEED appears on the LCD display.
4. Change it to 9600 BPS using the - (left arrow) button.
5. Press Select.

Try to send your fax again.

pleass make a copy from the printer either you use a dedicated line for phone and fax or the same line for phone and fax
then perform a power drain on the printer steps to perform a power drain press and hold the power button down holding down the button unplug the power cable from the rear access of the printer hold down the button for 10 secs then first replug the power cord then reboot the printer press the setup icon(it resembles a wrench) on the printer touch screen then go to tools then select run fax test then you can come to know what is the problem if there is dial tone failure you need to check the phone line if all says pass then go to setup once again then go to advanced fax setup then check fax speed if it is fast set it to medium then check the ecm(error correction mode) set it to off from on then go to automatic reduction then set it to off then go to basic fax setup then check the rings to answer please make sure that the rings to answer for fax should always be 2 rings more than the telephonic answering machine run a fax test again then try sending a fax to the number(1-888-473-2963) thats the hp[ faxme ] number you will get a return fax if the fax test says that the fax hardware failed please contact the hp tech support thank you with regards

If the fax is on extension line, dial 9 or 0 before the number to get external line.

Do you have or are you sending a fax to a party that has a DIGITAL PHONE SERVICE?

Is your phone line DSL or any other digital phone line?

Does the receiving or sending party have a DSL phone line?

Sounds like phone line issue to me like noise on it at times did your phone provider check it?

Do you have an analog phone line or are you trying to run it through a PBX system? I was just having this discussion with RKS tech support. Their fax software was hanging up as soon as the connection was established and all I had available was a VOIP phone line. It took 4 tries but I found a US Robotics fax/modem that worked fine in class 2.0 mode.

The only thing that I can think of for you to do is to completly delete it from your computer & then re-download it. Only do this if you get no other resolution. Or you can call 1-800-474-7739 for hp technical support. I just did & they were a great help to me!
