Heater fan on electric fireplace not working, so heat shuts off and won't come back on. The manufacturer is Southern Enterprises, Inc., model no. FA515500TX.

Not sure of the actual model name, but it's an antique white electric fireplace, purchased about a year ago. The heater has power, and I can see the filament heat up, but the fan never kicks on, and the heat shuts right down and won't go back on again for quite a while afterwards, if you attempt to restart it.

My fan did the same thing so I took all the screws off the back and top so I could get to the fan assembly. Then I sprayed WD40 on the fan bearing blocks on both ends and the middle. Fan starts up everytime I turn it on now. I guess the bearings get dirty with all the air pulled in to keep the heating element cool. The WD40 will clean out all the dust and dirt and privide a little lubration t keep things moving. My unit is 4 years old so I thing I will repeat this process in two to three years to keep it going.

My stereo isnt working on my templeton electric fireplace

Well what do you expect? Of course it won\'t work you are damaging your stereo with heat from the fireplace. Move it to another place. Oh that does not mean in front of the heater. You have probably melted the heck out of the poor stereo.

I have a Amish looking electric fireplace, Model FL18-r, which has quit heating altho the fake flames still work. I am trying to see if the heater insert can be replaced, where and for how much, or...

There are a couple of reasons the heating unit part of the fireplace stop heating. A dust and lint build up in the heating coils can cause them to burn out. The heater overload circuitry has shut the heater down or has failed or the unit needs to reset. so lets go to the easiest thing for you to do, yourself.

RESETTING THE HEATER
Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the fireplace and wait 12 - 15 minutes before plugging it back in. Then turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Turn ON each individual function of the fireplace, one at a time. If the unit was able to reset itself, each function should work normally. If it doesn't, then one of the issues I listed above is the problem.

If your fireplace is less than one year old, it should still be under warranty. So contact the manufacturer (you can find the contact info in your Owners Manual) about repair or replacement.

One personal aside: None of the electric fireplace/heaters on the market today, have a long trouble free life span. Usually, it's 9 months to a year, when consumers start having problems. I sold these type of appliances for a couple of years, as an adjunct to our gas fireplace and heater business. When they started to become a problem for our customers, we quickly realized, that no matter who the manufacturer is/was, they are not what they are touted to be and we discontinued selling them. It's been 4 years since we discontinued selling them and apparently, nothing has changed in their manufacture. As, I answer more than my share of questions about them, here on FixYa. As one person told me, "I wish I had bought a vent-free gas fireplace instead. It would have cost me more, but would have been more reliable and would still heat, even if the power was out."

I hope this helps you trouble shoot and solve the problem.

Happy Easter!

Charmglow Electric Fireplace ***NO HEAT** just lights up, HELP :(

Take the fan power switch apart and clean the 2 point contacts. Also clean the 4 male studs that the wires plug into. That should solve the problem.
