It is self Priming. If it will not Pick up, You probably need to Replace the Fuel Pump.

2007 gmc 5500 shutdown for no reason.

Reinstall the fuel filter after you clean out the fuel lines. Sounds like something is trapped in the line causing a blockage.

Why will my 1998 chevrolet cheyenne not start unless primed after sitting overnight

by primed are you supplying a fuel source if so then the car is not getting fuel to burn. this indicates your fuel pump is bad and needs replacing and change the fuel filter also. the reason the pump won`t work sitting overnight is that the pump can`t build up enough pressure possibly because the fuel pressure is not being held, but after the first start up the system can maintain enough pressure to start through out the day. you can have the fuel pressure and volume checked with a gage when the problem occours to verify.

1994 Isuzu Pickup 2.3L carbureted motor with mechanical fuel pump lost prime

If it were just that you would be ok once the engine started.
You might have a float problem with the carb. or something in the tank.
Are you sure the pump is not pumping ?

Hello, i just changed the fuel filters on my 08 f250 6.4 per the manuals instructions. seemed easy enough. basically the only "trick" was to turn the key on/off 6 times to allow the fuel pump to run and...

not really,if it's a diesel you should have a primer on top of the filter, you have to press that around 30times to prime,if it's gas you should already have pressue with key on after 2sec,check filters and make sure you didn't install them backwards flow.

Fuel filter, and car won't start

If it ran fine before you changed the filter, then did you prime the system before trying to start it? To do this, simply turn the key on but don't crank the starter then back off. Do this three to four times and what this does is builds pressure back in the fuel lines because when you changed the filter you lost the pressure and now will have a air bubble in the lines until you prime it. Hope that helps
