Waher ran through wash and spin cycle filled with rinse water and when it tried to agitate made horrible grinding noise. Spin cycle does same and washer will not drain.
Although I don't hear any "grinding" noise, the washer will fill, the motor runs, but no agitation. On spin cycle, the water drains, but no spinning.Although I don't hear any "grinding" noise, the washer will fill, the motor runs, but no agitation. On spin cycle, the water drains, but no spinning.
Not sure if I did the last post correctly, sorry if this is redundant.... It is a Whirlpool washer, top loading, model LSV7244AQO if I'm reading it correctly. If I can find a way to order a motor coupler, would I be able to replace it myself without calling for a technician service call? ie is it a relatively simple repair/replace, or is it rocket science? :-) Thanks! If it doesn't drain the water after the wash cycle and the sound is more like a buzz then the first thing that I suggest you check is the lid switch. If the lid switch is damaged then the machine will not pump the wash cycle water out and it will not go into the subsequent cycles. The "grinding" or buzzing sound can be caused by an intermittent signal reaching relay switches or solenoids.
The bad news is with the combination of not draining and the grinding it is undoubtedly the drain pump. The good news is they are not difficult to replace. Let me know if you need any info on replacing it yourself and I'll try to give you the steps needed. Hope this helped.
Hi, Do you know if the washer spins at all?
It sounds like the coupler has gone bad.
Please let me know if it spins at all.
I can send yyou instructions on changing the coupler.
is it possible that the washer was overloaded? if so the agitator has little plastic "gears" that move the agitator one way only, they could have made the sound.
you can also check under the washer to see if anything (like a coat-hanger or something) is interfering with moving parts of the washer

Is this something that I could fix myself if I can get the part(s)?
Thanks
