Samsung HL-S5087W wont hold the settings

I went through the same exact thing. I had to replace the DMD board. No problem after that.

Check the caps on your power supply, could have a problem with your audio voltage. If the caps are good, I would say that your main board is defective.

This condition is under a class action law suit..If U call Samsung I belive they will check it out for free..

The lamp will be located either on the left side or on the back of the set----look for a door secured with one or more screws.

With the set unplugged, open the door and back the two screws that hold the lamp (it is in a cartridge with a handle) and grasp the handle and slide the lamp out.

Slide new lamp on (lots of them on the internet but buy a Samsung one and not a Generic "bulb".

Replace the door making sure you put the screws back that hold the lamp/cartridge in. Plug the set in and see what you have.

It is that easy--meant to be customer replaceable.

You might have the problem with your standby processor on it, that needs samsung technicians.

probably a bad (intermittent) control board.

It may be a loose conetion inside the set. Open and carfully check the conections.

Hi, sounds like a bad color wheel, a technical repair that should be done be a trained repairman, cost around $250-275 installed

When you turn off the set listen carefully... If the noise stops abruptly it's the color wheel, if it winds down a bit after you press power off it's a bad fan..
