Protect mode is usually caused by a speaker wiring problem. Check the wire connections at each speaker and at the speaker terminals on the back of the main unit, and make sure there aren't any loose strands of wire touching.

If the unit goes into into protection it usually means the amp is blown. It would need to go into a shop for service if the repari is not cost prohibitive

After turning on the tv, the power goes on and off automatically

Hi.

The TV goes into protect mode because a internal fault is detected. Protect mode is a forced standby mode that starts when an internal fault is detected. The TV power board supplies power in different voltages. When in protect mode the PSU higher voltages are shuts down. The only PSU line that remains live is +5VDC.

All you can do at user level is turning off the TV and disconnect the power cord for about ten minutes. This will drain power from the TV circuits and can fix temporary problems caused by the accumulation of electrostatic charge in internal components.

If after the power drain the TV still does not restart, then internal components must be tested and repaired. The job must be done by a trained technician. To book a technician or to order parts call the phone number listed on the owners manual.

Can't open,in protect mode

Hi:
First disconnect all speakers from the unit and then try turning the unit on too see if it still goes to protect mode. Protect mode is a shut down feature that shuts down the unit because of a shorted speaker or speaker wires are touching each other. If the unit does not shut down after disconnecting all speakers then reconnect them one at a time while turing the unit on after each conncection until you find the shorted speaker. If it shuts down with no speakers attached to it then you have a internal problem with the amplifier section, probably a shorted output transistor in the Amp circuit or preamp circuit.

Protect mode is on all the time.It started making my speakers sound like the rca were touching then went to protect mode.no fuses blown now protect mode stayson, pretty new amp barely been used

POWER IT UP WITH NO SPEAKERS CONNECTED AND NO RCA INPUTS. IF IT STILL GOES INTO PROTECTION, THEN IT WILL NEED SERVICE. WHAT YOU PROBABLY HEARD AT FIRST WAS THE OUTPUT TRANSISTORS SHORTING AND STARTING TO SEND DC OUT TO THE SPEAKERS WHICH WOULD DESTROY THEM AND FURTHER DAMAGE THE AMPLIFER, SO THE PROTECTION CIRCUITS SEE THIS AND SHUT THE AMPLIFIER DOWN. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE....V

Protect mode shuts down the receiver

If this happens only when connecting the receiver, chech the receiver cable. If the cable is fine, receiver connector at the back of receiver is faulty.

Protect mode will kick in whenever a fault is detected.

You get the unit not powering up, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that is the protection switch that keeps shutting down the unit.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Onkyo ts595 goes into protect mode with volume increase

HI check your speaker cables are not touching, also make sure "b" speakers are not on and that all your speakers are 4ohm or higher as this will cause the amp to shut down if they are to low an impedeance,The amp is protecting itself when it shuts down.

My amp wont go past protect mode

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up (no protect light), the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down (goes into protect), the amp likely has blown output transistors.
