JVC Audio Players & Recorders - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

Yes, you can connect all the other speakers and not have a center speaker. It will not damage the amplifier. But be aware, that many of the surround functions will not sound good without the center speaker. In just about every surround mode the center speaker gets more audio to it than any other speaker. It would sound better if you took one of the rear speakers and used it for a center speaker and have one rear speaker output no connected. The rear speakers get the least amount of sound going to them in all surround modes.

I hope this helps and a Fixya! rating would be appreciated. After all, it is the only reward we get for offering people like yourself free help. Most people never even bother to rate our free help here.

Thanks,
Dave

Hello Paul, what you have found is a cassette recorder rewriter of two mechanisms, commonly called "Double Cassette"
to be able to listen or record, you would have to connect it to an amplifier that has a Tape input
You can not connect directly to the speakers, unless the speakers have their own amplifier, if so, you would need a cable from two RCA to two RCA
I hope you serve my comment

Hello Velile, indicate the model of your Home Theater JVC, to find the best possible solution
Try disconnecting your JVC from the socket, then check that the cables that go to the speakers are well, that they are not peeled or shorted, after checking, reconnect and see if you are still in Protect
If you continue in Protect, I suggest you contact a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

Hi Mark, so you account for your JVC, you are not reading the CD, should you indicate on the display, "NO DISC", have you tried to clean the lens of the laser reader, with a cotton swab with a little alcohol?
Another possibility would be that you had, low emission of the reader, which could be adjusted, using the necessary instruments
If after cleaning the reader, it does not work, I suggest you look for a specialized technical service
I hope to solve the problem

Hello, Francisco for what you are saying, that you have 12.6 volts in leg 4 (Supply) of STR G6551, according to the data sheet, it is low, it starts working from 14.4 volts, typical 16 volts and maximum 17, 6 volts
you would have to check the values of the power resistances of leg 4, also the capacitors and the optocoupler
I send you link to the JVC THS 55 DVD service manual and the STR G6551 data sheet
I hope you manage to make your JVC THS 55 DVD work

Unplug the unit for a minute or two then plug it in and try opening again. If that doesn't work try taping on the door while pressing the 'open' button.
