Here is how to reset your Nintendo Wii:
1. First, the easy way. A soft reset of the Ninetendo Wii. If you Nintendo Wii has just started acting up and there is no reason to perform a hard reset then follow this instruction. Simply press the reset button and hold down for 2 seconds on your Nintendo Wii Console.
2. Now, for the more advanced hard reset. Interestingly, the Nintendo Wii has NO hard reset facility to be accessed through the machine or via buttons. The ONLY way to hard reset your Nintendo Wii is to UNPLUG it for 5 minutes and remove the battery from its compartment. After 5 minutes replace the battery and try the console again. Once it is unplugged it resets itself and your badly behaving Nintendo Wii should be restored.
Note: By hard resetting the Nintendo Wii, it will not delete any information on the SD Card that is used for storage. If you wish to delete this data, stick it into a computer with a multi-media card device or a digital camera and reformat it.

We had a storm other night and the lights went out and when they came back on my Wii would not power up tried to reset and unplug it but nothing. I had it plugged into a power surge panel plug to protect it but the plug is still working but my wii is not.
Out of the blue my Wii console will not turn on....seems to not be getting any power. The system is plugged into a power surge strip...all of the other electronics plugged into the strip are working normally...why not the Wii?
