Limp mode HI I HAVE A FORD TRANSIT 1998 TURBO DIESEL 2.5 di, hAVE GOT A RED LIGHT ON THE DASH AND THINK ITS THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT, THE VAN DRIVES VERY SLOW IN EVERY GEAR AND IS LIKE ITS CUT INTO SAFTEY MODE limp mode been told its the epic 2 fuel pump

    i too have this problem 1998 diesel turbo start fine idle fine but will only rev too exactly 1500 revs then into idle and no response from throttle ,however unlike the other post i have no light that illuminates on dash ,althoughn it dose at ignition on as it should normally do do you think it could also be the throttle controller pot

    all sorted mate ended up bieng the throttle pot replaced it with a very expensive replacement part and all go now thanks TL

This must be the turbo version.
The epic pump was fly by wire and suffered from water getting into the plug on the back of the pump.
Try removing the plug and check. If wet dry out and try.

Also the throttle pedal potentiometer used to fail, so the engine would only tickover and not rev up.

There isn't one. Because it is operated by putting the van into gear, it is probably a function of the BCM from a switch on the gearbox. Check the socket for continuity to ground and also for rust.
