Im using my tv, Magnavox , 45inch about 4 years old as a computer monitor, im using a desktop, not laptop, i got a ati radeons hd 4800 series graphics card that when i first put in my computer gave me a option to right click on my desktop and click AMD catalyst, i would go into that and there would be a screen adjustment and i could just fix it from there, but now when i get into AMD catalyst it doesnt give me any options of the sort, a few weeks ago i finally fixed it without having to use adm cata. but i got into a game recently and the game resolution wwas different, and only showed half a screen so i set the resolution of the game to the same as computers usual resolution (1152x864) but when i finished playing the game, it gave my computer 2/5 black screen, i tried every resolution to fix it, i got into the game changed it back to original resolution, got out, still black screen , Im currently usuing 800x600 resolution, the only one that works properly, But problem is everything is to Big, i got barley any screen and hard to play games because ratio of everything to the screen is like 7:10 , 10 being screen also not exactly sure exact type of the tv.

You are having convergence problems. If you can't reset in menu then you may need amps replaced. You can also call PTS18008447871 and ask for price on convergence board and just replace.

have the coolant (glycol) in the CRT's....not as expensive as buying a new set...and sounds like it should be good as new if thats the only problem you have with it.

I had the same problem where all of a sudden it started bowing on top and bottom and the colors were bad. I read on here and other sites about the 2 convergance chips so I figured why not try as the tv was going to get thrown away because I could not find anyone that would touch it. Well I ordered 2 stk392-120's (I know others are saying use the 150's or 180's but I just wanted to put the same ones that were in there) I ordered them from electronix.com for 9.99 each plus 6.60 for shipping they took 3 days to get here and I installed them tonight and it worked great. The whole thing took only about 2 hours from start to finish. Here's a couple of tips....the chips are on the far left when looking at the tv from the back, make sure you mark with a marker where the wires go that you have to unplug as there are about 10 of them, each chip has 19 pins that you will have to soder make sure you have a soder ****** to get all the old soder up as you are heating them up, after you are done puting it back together leave the back cover off and turn it on, then go into your menu and go to pictureand go to manual converge and go to undo multpoint and restore factory as this will reset it all. Then if your color is still a little off as mine was there are 6 knobs in the back of the tv by the chips you were working on, find a channel with a lot of colors and try adjusting the top 3 a little at a time till you get the right color that you like. This should do it. It took 26 bucks and 2 hours for me to fix a tv I was ready to replace, thank god for the internet to be able to look stuff like this up. Good luck!

Common issue I have come across when using any TV as a PC monitor. Best workaround i found is just dont change inputs or reboot the PC and the tv will pick it back up.

Hey,
ik'm glad that atleast you don't have troubles with the reso.
Anyways if you got the same TV, then just do this and it should work, i have sometimes lost a little side of the screen too, but this helped me:
Take your TV remote
PC Menu-->Factory Preset-->Reset-->Yes
OR same thing just not automatic
PC Menu-->Picture-->Horizontal/Vertical.
I hope it fixes it for you.
