The main reason for overheating is blockages in the pipes or dirty filters here is the manual .

Do all dyson vacuums have fuses

Hi Becky, it's Jack at Dyson.

All Dyson corded vacuums bought within the UK will include a standard replaceable 13 amp fuse within the plug. Dyson vacuums purchased in other markets may not include a fuse within the plug. However, most Dyson vacuums are protected by a thermostat engineered to shut the machine off for protection if it starts to overheat.

If your machine shut off while you were using it, it may have overheated due to a blockage, and the filter(s) may also be overdue for a wash. The vacuum should reset automatically after it's had at least 1-2 hours to cool down. Washing the filter(s) according to the User guide and removing any blockages should prevent this issue from reoccurring.

We're happy to talk you through some quick troubleshooting checks to help determine the cause of the issue, and to ensure your Dyson vacuum is working as well as it should be. You'd just need to give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson stopped working.

Have you tried starting it again? It might have stopped because it overheated and now that it has cooled it should start again. If not, then possibly the power switch or power cord has failed.

Dysons animal overheats and turns off What do we

The electric motor inside your Dyson has a built in over-current trip to protect itself (and you if it seriously overheated and caught fire). This normally automatically resets itself, however if the motor has just about had it, next time it is switched on it just trips again.

The primary cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Dont be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be regularly cleaned and replaced when necessary.

Replacement motors are available on eBay2_bing.gif for about £25, however replacing one requires good DIY skills and tools.

Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com and see if you feel you can tackle it yourself. If not, take it to a repair shop or call the Dyson helpline.

It sounds like the motor has overheated and has now been irrepairable damaged.

Dyson dc25 all floors is making a weird screeching sound and it smells like the motor is overheating within the first 15 seconds that i have iti running. any ideas?

Could be the clutch that's causing the problem. I suggest taking it to a local vacuum shop or calling Dyson and explaining to them whats happening.

Dyson dc07 works for a bit then switches off all the time

If you used a credit card with extended warranty or its within 1 year, take it back. You are correct about the overheating. We have the same unit and it works fine for over 3 years. I did see rebuilds at Big Lots which worried me for a $500 vacuum to have a reliability problem. Guess the recycled vacuums had bad motors?
