    I have a JVC GR-d 270e camera.
At the time I bought it i was using a PC, but am now using a Mac with OS X.  This camera has not been recognised by either computer.  It was supplied with a usb cable but no firewire.  Despite my best efforts at doing as the instruction manual says (it has options for use with firewire and usb apparently) nothing ever happens.  Help - I've used up so much dv tape that it's going to take me the rest of the year to edit it!!

I purchased my Mini cam ( GR- D270 )at Best Buy and did not receive any software to play recordings on my PC so ordered it from your store and installed it into my Dell notebook but get nothing when I plug my mini cam into my PC through a USB port. Do I need a firewire? The instruction booklet says it can be done with USB cable. Also the software was for digital photos. It does have a movie icon but nothing happens. Software you sent was LY32210-0A2A- is this the correct software?

You are mentioning that you are trying to transfer video though USB port, that is not possible, you have to connect the camera to the pc through the DV port from the camera to the Firewire port of the PC, if your PC doesnt have a Fire wire port, install a IEEE1394 firewire card in one of your PCI slots.

I have the CD that came with my GR-D270U Camera. Although it is correct that the manual says you can transfer via USB, when you run the driver install from the CD you get a message that says "Windows 98 Only" - I run Vista and XP machines and could not locate any driver at all for those OS's. Firewire is the best bet since drivers are not required. Oh, and dont bother with JVC's site - do a search there on GR-D270 Drivers and you get a message referring to hard disks... so much for hi tech and internet based searches - if the info aint there, you aint gonna get it.

I am reading the manual that came with my JVR-D270, and it says

Using USB cable - 'Transfer still images stored on a memory card to a Pd'
Using a DV cable - 'It is also possible to transfer still/moving images to a PC with a DV connector by using the provided software (GR-D290) with the PC, or commercially available software'
So.... you get no DV cable or Software included for the JVR-D270. And you cannot transfer movies to a computer with only the USB cable, only still photos.
I still need to purchase the cable and find software before I can try it.

Just a response to a previous post. Kiranbabu, try taking a look at the manual of this model through the JVC website. It's in PDF format. On page 45 of the manual, it states that you CAN, in fact, transfer still/moving images from tape via USB. I can only assume that you need the bundled software or the appropriate driver to do so, though.

I have a jvc gr d750. i cannot transfer videos from cam to computer. laptop reformatted, device cannot be detected. connection firewire. no cd with product on purchase

You badly need CD, visit your nearest JVC Center, you can ask a copy of it, you might need the application software as well, it comes all together too large to send via email. Important Note, Connect first your cam and pc before installing the driver. Hope it helps

If you have a CD installer of your camera you need to install the driver so that you cam can be detected. If your cd is lost you need to visit the JVC site then search the model of you camera, if you can see now the model you can start to download the driver. "good luck"

Can not transfer to computer

Hi, I had the same problems 'till I picked up this: Koutech PCI to 1394a Card Model KW-582V2 It apparently contains some Texas Instrument hardware (or drivers?) that will make the camcorder transfer with ease! It did the trick perfectly and is really low in price! Sorry, not a real technical answer, but this is what worked! Scott
