Blinking standby button

I have the tx-sr605 receiver. The standby button keeps blinking and the receiver won't work. The problem started I think because my cat drooled on the receiver while he was sleeping on it. I was watching tv when it just shut down. I turned it back on and it made a zap sound then began blinking the standby light.

Hi...1st off ...make sure all the speakers are connected at both ends.
2nd..buy a new cat..one that doesnt drool.
If it's still stays in Stdby after checking speakers, It might have blown an internal fuse cause thats where those darn stereo people put them now.

The receiver sr605 display is not working. The only light on the unit that works is the red standby.

have you attempted to unplug it and plug it back in 2 mins later--sometimes a hard reset is all thats required...

ONKYO tx-sr605 HDMI CHANNEL 2 INTERMITTENTLY SWITCHES TO STANDBY

Check the Ohm value (4, 8, 16...) on the speaker and on the ONKYO too.
If not the same that is the (big) problem!

Won't turn on.standby light on,fuse under cover is good.what next? onkyo tx-sr605

The only thing to test would be to disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver then turn it back on. If it still won't turn on, it's an internal power supply issue and will need service. If it turns on, post a comment and I can walk you thru further troubleshooting. Hope this helps

I recently bought TX-SR605 7.1 receiver it was working fine but lately whenever i switch the on button it comes back immediately to the standby mode, can somebody help me out

Its possible that the Receiver is going into protection mode and possible some speaker cable might have touched the body or with each other.
Remove all inputs and outputs and then restart the receiver. If it starts then you are lucky. Connect all cable and wiring properly and ensure that they do not touch each other. You might have to reset the microprocessor if the recevier has got.

If the problem persist then let me know to further the trobleshooting.

Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa.

Brand new Onkyo Tx-sr605 won't leave stand by

If the unit will not leave standby I would remove all power, disconnect *all* connections at the back, reconnect to a power source and try powering on. This will eliminate any connection causing the Onkyo to stay in standby due to a short. If it still will not enter power-on mode, you may want to look at the power source (is it properly grounded?), but beyond that the unit probably needs to go back.
