I replaced the head gasket, for white smoke. Now when putting back the rocker arms the steel rod seems to go in the hole to far?

Check the choke, if that doesn't work the old gas may have left residue that is plugging your ports.

SOURCE: I have a Briggs & Stratton Intek V-Twin 20 on

This does not sound like a head gasket issue. Your description indicates fuel flow issue. Items involved are fuel filters, fuel itself, and the carb.

06 Dodge 2500 turbo diesel rocker arm laying in head white smoke

By driving it like this there is a chance you could have done some serious damage to the piston heads. White smoke is usually a blown head gasket. The amount of smoke can sometimes tell you how serious the problem is. To be honest this could be the head, its gasket, faulty valves or seats, camshaft issues or even bent or broken push rods. You might have to do a full tear down on this one!

WHY DOES WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF THE SIDE

If it's coming from around carburetor area than you most likely have a blown head gasket. It's building up to much pressure in block and its blowing out your vent tube.

My 24 hp Briggs v twin smokes and uses oil bad. Smoke comes out of the left side when running. Can I use head gasket sealer to get me through the season?

There is no sealer that will resolve a head gasket issue, if that is what you have going on. and, if the head gasket failed remember it is a victim and not the cause, something else in happening.
I suspect that you have a compression related failure, based on the oil consumption and the smoke is probably blow by. This issue requires surgery to diagnose and fix.
