SOURCE: DELL Poweredge 2600 Bios FREEZES After Cpu check and before SCSI Drives check HELP!!!!

The BIOS check can freeze for many reasons.

Can you tell me if this is an existing system that was working fine and then had this problem, or is this a new (or new to you) system?

Can you give more information on what is actually showing on the screen?

SOURCE: Does Dell PowerEdge 4600 Server support DVD ROM

I am working on one of these now and yes, it should boot from DVDROM. Be aware that it is a notebook style drive and there are no onboard IDE or SATA controllers, so once the drive dies you're in for a wallet hit. Same goes for the floppy drive which is integrated with the DVDROM. Even worse, the presence of the broken floppy usually means a USB floppy drive won't help when loading windows drivers at install time.

Hello,

Go to your BIOS and change the boot sequence so that the system boots to the CD 1st. (You should see a tab or label that says Boot Order or Boot Device.)

Dell poweredge 2600 server recently display a message " No boot device available Press F1 to reboot or F2 to setup" Please why?

Did you experience a power event? Go to BIOS (F2), and make sure that RAID is Enabled. If RAID got turned off (power event, BIOS reset), then it will give you that message. If RAID is already enabled, then you may need to repair your operating system. If something else happened (drive failures, drives removed, etc.), then the array may be completely gone. Call Data Recovery services if it is critical you retreive the data.

Dell poweredge 4300 Bootup problem after replacing cmos battery

Look for a jumper on the motherboard where it would allow you to clear the cmos. basically you would move the position of the jumper and turn on the computer and let it clear itself.

Then after it clears turn off the machine, put the jumper back into its original position and then turn the computer on and see if the message goes away.

Also go into the BIOS and put in the correct time, date, year, etc.

PowerEdge 2600 does not boot up ?

you need to set the boot device order. Usually F12.
or you can go to bios with F2 or F10.

your cd-rom is wrong you need the Instalation and Server Management CD. I think it's possible to download this cd at their site.
