Look under "Downloads" tab at bottom for owners manual info. In a nutshell...mic to mixer channel #1, mixer connected to power amplifier, amplifier connected to speakers. Start with zero volumes on all equipment, bring up amps 1st (1/2 volume) and then adjust mixer until sound is heard from the microphone.

My Simmons SD9K will not save my drum settings? Any clues as to why it won't save anything?

I found this. It appears to have a motherboard battery that saves settings once powered down.

My SD9K brain module forgets/randomly changes the settings of the custom kits I create. Possibly an issue with the internal battery? If so, what type of battery is this and are they available?

Yes you would need to replace the CMOS button battery on the main board of the system.

And also this

You either have to hook your computer up to it or use the SD card or usb disk. You must leave it plugged into your computer to use the midi feature. You also must have a program that does midi. Or put it on a card or usb and use it that way. You must have it plugged in to the computer, card or usb to use it. You cannot save it to the brain.

How do i connect my keyboard and my laptop?

Download USB MIDI driver for yamaha from yamaha website, and install to laptop.
Next:
Make sure the POWER switch on the instrument is set to OFF,then use an AB type USB cable to connect the instrument to the laptop.
After making the connections, turn on the power of the instrument.
Laptop will immediately notify that new hardwares is connecting and automatically install the drivers. Wait until the process is finish.
Thats all. In Ableton, the setting MIDI input must be set to USB MIDI.

Why are the Keys on my axiom pro 61 not sending MIDI messages?

Does your keyboard have a "MIDI OUT" port? If yes, then
there is a selection to choose between USB or MIDI OUT port.
For my M-AUDIO oxygen 61 (silver), I must press the [Advanced] button then Note F3 on the music keys manual to toggle the MIDI-OUT.
If set to INT, it will not sent via USB. If set to USB it will not send via MIDI-OUT port. To use MIDI-OUT port I need external 12V DC adapter.

When I connect my Privia PX-130 to my computer (and Logic) it works perfectly but if I connect the audio out (via line out) at the same time, the audio sounds dreadful, even if I'm not going through the...

I SUSPECT that the USB connection is ECHOING the data, causing multiple generators to be active. Those extra ones then are mixed into the line out of the keyboard. In your PC, make sure the echo setting is turned off, OR disable the sending out of audio via the USB. Alternatively, DISABLE MIDI/USB incoming to the keyboard.

Have a casio px 320 and trying to use it in GarageBand on my Mac OS X. Connecting USB cable from USB output on Casio to USB input on Mac doesn't work. Any help?

use the audio output to send the keyboards internal patch sounds, or use a usb midi adapter to use the keyboard to trigger the garageband midi sounds, if the keyboard has a midi output, that is. the usb output requires software drivers to use, and IS NOT mac compatible. You may have to select a midi source in garage band preferences or settings if you are using midi.
