Blown voice coil,,,,it was connected to a JL AUDIO amp correct? w7`s can ONLY be powered by JL amps due to ohm load.Advice buy a better quality sub,w7 is over-rated
Call an authorized JL dealer and have them order it from JL. The cost for the first generation W7 13 o-ring and clamp(sold as a set) is $48. The newer AE version (which is the same just different finish) cost $69. SKU # 90242(1st gen) / SKU # 90213(2nd gen)
JL has good customer service, and usually you can get a drop-in replacement core/coil/former/spider. Call/e-mail the techsupport listed on their website, or contact your local dealer for replacement parts/service.
check your bass leval on your amp and make sure it is the same leval as your other amp. Also you w7 can be repaired they just change the coil. cheeper than buying a new one.
How much is your speaker max wattage? If it is 750 or below, it can only be used on one channel, either the right or the left. If speaker can handle 1500 watts then hook the positive speaker wire to R+ Hook black negative speaker wire to L-
