SVA HD4208 42INCH Plasma will not turn on. Hi! My TV will not turn on. I have a red light lite up by the remote control sensor. When I hit the power button on the remote the red light blinks. Then I hear a smal click sound and it seems as thou the TV is turning itself off. No picture or anything comes up. In order for me to aleast get the red light back up I have to turn the one power button control on and off that is built on the TV itself. I called the compnay and they said the TV might have to be reset. They suggested unpluging it for 30mins then trying to turn it back on. I tried did not work. The other thing they suggested was changing some wire. Please help I am sitting here helpless.

Can you tell me what 3 capacitors need to be replaced?

The issue with these TV's are the boards internally go bad, for Power the three capacitors get round at the top and either you replace the whole board from SVA fro 300.00 or buy three capacitors and replace them

I called the factory or the distributor or wholesaler (customer service) that comes out on the web and they told to just buy a new remote cuz tv just isn't recognizing the remote. Can this be true? If this is far from being true, where do I buy the boards and what are the chances that the boards are the real problem?
thanks once again.

My remote for my 42 inch lg plasma tv won't work the tv. I replaced the battles and that didn't work. It lights up green when I hit the power button

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If the remote control is found OK; check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. Contact any service technician.

Does the same thing happen if you turn it on without the remote?

If not, it's likely a short in either the remote or the sensor on the TV that receives the remote signal. A short in either would break the power on signal into two separate signals, which the TV would interpret as you hitting the power button twice, and would thus turn on and then immediately back off. If that's your problem, I'd suggest getting ahold of another remote for your set, or a universal remote that you can program for your set. There's a good chance that will fix it, and it's much easier than trying to fix the sensor.

If the same thing is happening when you use the power button on the TV, we have an entirely different problem, most likely a short somewhere. The power supply detects the short and shuts itself off to avoid doing more damage (or causing a fire). Sort of like how a circuit breaker works. That would explain it turning on and back off immediately. If that's your problem, you'll have to have someone who's handy with electronics take a meter to it and find the short. How you fix it will depend on exactly where the short is.

When I plug it in the red remote stand-by light comes on when I push the power button on the remote the red light blinks then goes off but there is no picture or sound?

flashing power light:

projection TV`s have many protective circuits in them, they protect your CRT`s from damage, over voltage called x-ray, and many others, you need to have it checked before the damage is more costly, your TV is not happy and needs to be checked

SVA PLASMA TV

I got this same tv from a guy in my area he would press the poewer botton on the tv and the standby light comes on and then turns off, so he gave me the tv for free i took the back panel off, and everytime i press the power botton the green light came on where the screen board is and went back off after i let the botton go i took the power board out took it to a repair shop to see if there was anything a wrong with it everything was good so i replaced the two fuses on the board and the one on the screen board, i had a feeling about the power switch so i jumped the wires on the switch purple to purple and green to green, I put it back together pluged it in the standby light came and stays on now, so i went out and got a universal remote for the sva at walmart for $15 programed it and pressto the tv works perfect so three fuses $3.60 two small pieces of wire and ele tape $0 my time 35 mins = one working plasma for $3.60 so when you have this problem like everyone else check the power botton switch, there cheap and check the fuses theres only three and if that dont work idk what to tell ya. and you do need a remote or tv wont work.

Did not turn on

I'm having the same problem with my SVA. It would turn on and after an hour or so it would power off but the red light would still be on. It got so bad that after a few mins it would power off. Then one day nothing but I still had the red light. I opened the back of the tv and found some leakage of a transformer (maybe a cap) on the power supple board. I order a new board. I will let you know if it works or not. Email me if you figured out what was wrong with yours as I think we have the same problem. [email protected]
