Press the button on the back of the mouse to free the battery cover on top.

Remove the battery cover and put the supplied AA battery into the mouse.

Replace the battery cover.

Insert the wireless USB dongle into a USB port on the laptop or desktop computer.

Move the mouse and watch your computer screen.

Confirm that the mouse is connected by making the cursor move.

Hope this helps

I had the same problem.
Press the button on the underside of the USB, the green light will flash. Now press the reset button on the underside of the mouse. Your mouse should now work.

SOURCE: Microsoft wireless mouse 3000 - all lights are on; flash upon reset, but still doesn't work. Running Vista 64-bit.

Try to take off battery and next push and hold down the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed in the mouse, put back battery and simultaneusly release the button,it might make the mouse operate correctly. Good luck!!!! Chawah.

Most devices last a long time. Have you tried re-installing the software for the keyboard & Mouse> Also go to microsoft download center and get the latest drivers for you setup. Make sure when you do, choose the right Operating System driver for your Keyboard & Mouse. Hope this helps. Bud

Unplug the USB port when it is not in use. It will also save the battery which die quickly if left plugged in to PC.

At the back of the mouse, there will be small flushed 'reset' button. Press that. It resets and reconfigures the connection. If it still doesn't work, the mouse has gone bad.
