if you're using the HDMI cable then the sound will be carried via that cable along with the Video signal. If you're connected via RCA's the Stereo output will be the Mini-HIFI jack that looks like the earphone jack on most cell phones. The Bravia also has the option for Optical output.
Make sure that your input on your Bravia is selected to the HDMI input that you are connected to; and that HDMI video output is enabled. If after doing that you still do not have picture from it then try another HDMI input.
Try connecting it with a cable that was provided, with 3 cinch connectors (Yellow, red, and blue) or you might have a cable with only a yellow connector. Or even if your camera is more recent you might have a mini Hdmi to Hdmi connector. Then connect it to you auxilliary input on the tv.
Try this: got to www.sony.com mouse over "support" then click on "drivers/software" enter your model #(s) and then you can check for firmware updates, the symptoms that you list, unfortunently are somewhat common when connected via HDMI cables.
Check for updates on both product that you list.
Good luck !
You could see if they will exchange just the unit and save both of you the hastle of checking and repackingit all. It does sound like the unit is faulty. Or if your Bravia has more than one HDMI input then try on another, or a friends tv if you know some one with a HDMI tv in working order.
I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.
plug in hdmi cable turn ps3 off then on wait and a message will apera click yes then another message appers then click yes then it should work if not connect with the red white yellow plug and then change the settings to hdmi and plug the hdmi cable in
