Samsung DLP loud vibrating noise

My Samsung 65" DLP is almost 3 years old. While watching tv a very loud vibrating sound stated coming from within the tv. I turned the power off for an hour then tried it again. As soon as the power came on the same loud vibrating sound could be heard, (there was still a picture) so I immediately trurned the set off. I'm not good at reapairing the set myself. Any idea what it might be or do I need to take it in to be repaired. Would it be expensive to repair?Thank you

What if it doesn't go away?

I have a 50" Samsung DLP model P5063W/HL and I have a loud hum and vibration coming from the set. I checked and on the back is a panel which was vibrating and I put rubber washers behind the screws which took away the vibration but has made the hum more noticeable and just read one of the postings. The set is only two years old and has had the hum for most of its life. Will the color wheel take care of the problem and is it easy or consumer friendly to install?

I have a 56" HL-R5678W DLP that has a loud buzzing (not squealing) sound and vibration coming from the TV whenever it's powered on. The problem started all at once (wasn't gradual) and I'm also getting all 3 lights on the power button flashing. I removed the bulb and reinstalled and got a picture for a while, although poor/dull color and flickering. Now I'm back to no picture and 3 lights flashing. It also takes a while for it to power down and will power itself off, then quickly on for ~ 3 times over a minute or so before totally shutting itself down.. Once off the sound goes away but not the flashing lights. Not sure if the problem is the color wheel or fan, or something else. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The color wheel is the most common problem in DLPs that cause noise. To determine the cause: Turn the set off. If the noise goes away after about five seconds, then, the problem is the color wheel. If the noise goes away one to two minutes after shut off, then, the problem is a fan. To stop the noise from the colorwheel(for us cheapies) apply about 20 lbs but not much to the back of the tv panel( i jam a log between wall and tv to apply pressure which tilts tv ever so slightly) in the bottom area near the lamp but Do not cover any vents of course and nosie of color will stop ...it works don't laugh..I'm also working on same lamp from 5 years a go by just reseting it o.oo hours used everytime it starts to blink or cut out after a few mins..

Just to let every one know that from my own experience that replacing the color wheel was a breeze; my part number was a bp96-01579a for my Samsung HLT5675S. Here is a pretty nifty guide that I used: http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp96-01579a.php at first i called a tech to the house and he charge me 50 bucks just to inspect the tv, and another 300 for getting a new color wheel and replacing it. That’s crazy. After a lot of thought I decided to do it my self, I got the wheel at http://www.discount-merchant.com/ for little over 90 bucks with shipping.
Good luck.

Is there or was there any other sound when the color wheel went bad on your TVs? I was watching last night and heard a pop followed by the very loud hum! I still have a picture, but cant watch over the hum. I have been having color issues for about a month, and then a slight humming sound. I guess it all came to a climax last night!

I had the same problem. It is the color wheel. Mine was in warranty. I think you will have to call Samsung on the part.

If your Samsung color wheel is bad (note the buzzing or whirling type sound), you can fix it yourself! I did. It took me a few hours, but I saved a ton of cash over a repairman. I bought the part via this website, which had the best price I found while shopping online.

Check out this site. This guy has a pretty good idea of what that sound is and how to fix it. If the humming is loud enough to hear from the couch over the TV then there is certainly a problem. Hope this helps.

PLEASE HELP! For the last couple of week my tv has been making a loud noise reminiscent of someone put a piece of paper against a fan. This noise continued for a few seconds after the tv was turned off. Suddenly this morning it stopped worked. The TV will turn on however there is no picture only sound and it turns off all together after a very short period. After careful research I was certain it was the color wheel. However after calling Samsung they have me convinced it could be a multitude of problems. I turn the tv all of the lights blink the bulb lights up and I hear the sound moments last the tv powers itself down and the bulb goes out the sound continues for seconds and then dissapears. Please help how do I know what the problem is without spending a fortune.

Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.

Samsung HLR5064W DLP TV load vibrating noise like a fan blade hitting something, lamp light is one, Tv will light up but discolored

Sounds like a bad color wheel----remove lamp---the wheel faces it--look for missing pieces or the wheel shattered---these are known for the wheel making a loud high pitched sound or even a grinding sound if the wheel shatters.

if wheel bad You Tube has video instructions for replacing it---seen several people able to do this themselves in about a hour. Google the model number to ("color wheel") to locate a replacement on the internet.10_24_2012_3_58_01_pm.jpg

Hello.
It looks like you ignored lamp replacement in your TV. It have to be replaced every 2.5 years of average use. It's like oil change in a car. Regular scheduled service.

My Samsung DLP TV is making a noise that sounds like a bad fan.

This high pitch noise comes from the color wheel. Now is unbalanced and the noise is going to be even hardest with the time. send it to change now. this part is inside the light engine

Sounds like the colorwheel (used in DLP projection sets with a single DLP panel) is going bad, either the wheel itself or the bearings on the motor driving the wheel are starting to fail. I would recommend getting a professional to service the TV set.
