tks its very helpful. how do you get high voltage block up?

  • coolbreeze1 Jan 06, 2009

My Samsung 54 inch rear projection has the same problem. It was moved to the basement when the Plasma arrived. It worked fine before the move but now when the Perfect Focus is selected using the remote it cycles through aligning Red and Green but fails to do anything with Blue. The pictures Tint isn't good.

I can't seem to correct a tint problem. The tv turns on and the tint doesn't change. A friend says it could be a vidoe card?

Go to menue on controller, then Picture, then adjust Color and Tint to you taste. The color ajusts Blue and Green move left more blue move the slider right more green. The Tint controlls red. More red move right less left. Also chech Color temp setting.

The monitor has now got a blue tint I have checked the lead

Your monitor has a menu system that will allow you to access the color guns so you can adjust the red, blue, green guns that create the color picture.

The blue tint may indicate that you need to adjust teh reg and green to offset OR it may indicate that you have lost the red gun all together.

If this is an older monitor and you are considering repair... cost points say it is cheaper to buy a monitor ~$60 bucks

Picture settings

Colorimetre HCFR software
AVC HD 709 calibration disk
Spyder2 colorimeter (I know most prefer the Eye-One meters, but the Spyder2 was available from my job at no cost)

Here are the settings:

PS3 Blu-Ray player

Output Format (HDMI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr (important!!! NOT RGB output)
BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): On (this TV can reproduce video at 48hz for accurate 2:2 pulldown)
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White (HDMI): On (not sure if this matters)

Yellow Color: 0
Yellow Tint: 1
Cyan Color: -11

Magenta Color: 0
Magenta Tint: -2

Take time to get used to the settings, you may think the screen looks dull at first. The truth is most people have way too much contrast on their TVs.
These settings will also work for Cable or Dish hookups, in which case you may change the Noise Reduction option to Medium to reduce signal noise.

Color problem

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

Hello paulaspec,

You have a problem with the three factors, and they are screen voltage, focus voltage, and control (focus 2) voltage. Basically these voltages have to be adjusted since the components in this section have aged some. These controls are usually located in the television on the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer) or as it is also called the flyback transformer. these controls must be adjusted together, along with the color controls. Here is how the adjustment is done (You will need a schematic diagram, a DC volt meter, and a color bar generator to do these measurments):

1) turn color and tint fully counter clockwise until you have a black and white picture.

2) connect the color bar generator to the TV (ch 3) and turn it on, you should see bars in various shades of gray

3) adjust as best as possible the color and tint controls to obtain the color bars on the screen Red Green Blue.

4) measure the voltages on the focus, screen and control grids of the CRT and match them to the schematic digram measurements.

5) adjust the focus screen and control grids to match the ones on the schematic diagram

6) once this is done then you adjust the color controls once again to obtain the red green and blue bars on the TV screen.

This should help if the CRT (picture tube) electron guns are still good and if the flyback transformer voltage supply is working.

However if you do not have a background in electronics please take the TV to a shop for repairs.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
