I just replaced the lamp in my Hitachi 50vf820 tv and it comes on for a second then cuts out and blinks red temp light.

Make sure all the fans are working correctly. If the problem persists then it might be the ballast, the power supply or a bad temp sensor.

Picture is greenish/yellow

Hello, without a picture to confirm it I can't say 100% that it's the light engine but I'm about 90% sure it is. You can buy a new set cheaper than the cost of replacing the light engine. tks

No picture or sound power light just flashes contiunely

This can mean that the lamp has burned out in your TV; the lamp is user-replaceable via a hatch in the side or rear and available online or through many home theater retailers. If you've already replaced your lamp, then this can be a bad lamp temperature safety switch.

Power light just flashes no sound or picture

Solution no_1by Realist 2006Member since:April 09, 2006Total points:15,673 (Level 6)Best Answer - Chosen by AskerIt is almost certain that the power supply unit is in what is termed Hiccup mode which is simply the power supply shutting down when a fault is sensed , of course when the set is switched off the fault can not be seen so the set switches on again whereupon the fault is sensed again so the set switches off , ad infinitum , hence the flashing power light ! Usual cause is short cct line out transistor or transformer . That my friend is about as far as one can go using guess work Soltion No._2The problem is either the power/inverter board or the lamps inside the LCD panel. if one of the mini florescent lamps fail to start up the inverter section of the power/inverter board senses this and shuts the set off and registers the error. If none of the lamps light up, then the board has to be bad (not all of the lamps can go bad a the same time). These lamps are similar to those in shop lights (just smaller) and eventually they will go bad. When a lamp fails to light up then it could be that stage of the inverter or the lamp. A technician is neede to determine which is bad.Knowing this, here is a way to temporarily over-ride the shutdown, you should do this in a room that is as dark as possible to see what the back lights are doing during the couple seconds they attempt to light up. If it never lights up, then you can replace the board yourself . If it lights up and shuts back off then you need a technician to determine if it needs a new panel or the board. To over-ride: unplug the AC cord, press and hold the [volume down] and the [input] buttons on the TV keyboard while plugging in the AC cord. hold these buttons until the indicator turns green, then release them. when watch what happens. If the green light never shows then do again (you will need to unplug the AC cord for over 30 seconds between each try).

I have a hitachi 50vf820 with green tint to it

Its a DLP type set that uses a lamp for a light source. With the color turned to zero stand back and examine the image. If mostly all green or areas are green you may have a issue with the optical light engine--either damaged inside from the heat of the lamp or the portion that processes red, green, and blue information bad.

My tv has no sound or picture turns on then temp

You might wish to unplug the TV for an hour or more. If this power reset does not allow the TV to turn on component failure is indicated. These sets are assembled using the wave soldering process they are known for having cold solder connections.

The safety circuitry shuts the TV set down or will keep it from turning on when it detects a problem. This model of TV has over 2,000 parts, which includes millions of transistors inside the integrated circuits. The capacitors will change value, leak and become defective. Resistors will change value and burn. Diodes and IC can go bad.

This may have a domino effect and cause other parts to fail. Replacing one defective part may make the TV operate for a short time but the part will fail again if the parts that caused the failure to begin with are not replaced.

The only way to know for sure which parts that are no longer within factory specs and for a proper repair all the electronics must be diagnosed by someone with the correct electronic test equipment specifically designed for TV service and the skills to use the test equipment. I wish I could tell you there was a quick fix or button to push that would fix the TV but that is not the case or the solution needed to get the TV operating correctly.

It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this IC is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off.

his is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.

Hope this will help in solving the problem.......

My remote control hitachi brand CLU-413UI does not

The remote can be tested by any shop (a small laminated card sensitive to infra red will test it).

If you just want to replace it Google it with the CLU-413UI and you will find it for sale, I did and here is one I saw.

http://remotes.com/store/hitachi/clu413ui.html

You may also want to look on EBAY as there are usually ones for sale there. Most likely if your remote is defective is either it got dropped or something was spilled on it, Also make sure you hit TV on the remote first as most of these are multipurpose remotes(If something else is selected it will not work on the set).

Before you rate how helpful this information was let me know what you find and or if you have questions.

We have a Hitachi 50vf820

you can fix the dimmed look to the tv by purchasing a new ballast for the DLP bulb.

drewpalmer04_12.jpg
The spots are non-repairable as they are in the light engine assembly and those are nearly $500-$600 and very labor intense to install.

Hope this helps. Click the hyperlink above to buy the ballast.

I just changed the bulb and its sstill flashing in

Hi ashlee,
Flashing of LED light indicated that you have a fault on the power supply section. Look for bulged capacitor in that area. Leaky capacitor will affect the regulation of the supply once sense the processor it will not power up unless isolated. Also check for open fusible resistor, it will trigger the overcurrent protection. Also check for dry joints, cold solder will do the same symptom.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

I just recently changed my lamp in my hitachi 50

No. If the set turns on and you have a picture, the lamp is installed properly. Most of the time the optical block is the issue. The lamp shines directly into it. If the picture was good before the lamp was replaced, it is possible that that replacing the lamp might have dislodged some micro dust build up internal to the optical block and it landed in a concentrated area causing the red and green lcd panels not to pass light through as bright as the blue giving you a blue spot. Unfortunately the optical blocks are not designed to be taken apart to clean. Replacing the optical blocks are expensive. Most costing in the area of $700.00 to $1200.00 for the part. It also is a major tear down to get to the optical block to replace it. Once upon a time Hitachi had a couple of recalls on their optical blocks for various models. I do not know however if this qualified.
I hope this helps,

My hitachi 50v720 bulb blew and the replacement doesn't fit

I have a 50V525E and I have the same problem....My bulb is suppose to be a LM500 and I received a P22 Phillips (And I did check their web site and that is the bulb they recommend), and like you said...The 4 little glass tabs will not allow the bulb to sit flat in the housing.....

I am waiting for the vendor to answer my inquiry...But I recommend to anyone ordering a bulb...Ask if it is Phillips, and if it is...stay away.
