Ok do you have cable satillite or what? How is the satillite and or cable hook up to the TV set? Is it through the video input, as I bet you need to try the differant inputs for the antenna as well as for the video, as when the TV gets unpluged, and thats basicly what happened when the kitty walked on the power strip, the TV set reset to another input. If you want a wired connection to the internet via high-speed broadband (DSLor cable), you will need an Ethernet PC Card (also called PCMCIA or CardBus).
If you want a wireless connection, look for a compatible 802.11b or 802.11g PC Card. (This assumes you already have a wireless access point.)
Make sure the driver for the card is available for your operating system. Since this computer can only have up to 192MB of RAM, you might want to look into using a Linux OS.

unplug the mouse...Turn on computer and hit f8 right away...choose safe mode...right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab> Device manager tab> choose actions (at the top ) and then scan for hardware changes...This should fix your driver issue
are they hooked up to a laptop? we've had the same problem with that before. When hooked up to the laptop it goes to sleep or turns off. bringing up the blue screen. maybe change the settings in the computer.
