We have the Dacor PCS227 double wall ovens. They are about eight years old. Roughly three years ago, the temperature sensors in both ovens had to be replaced. They worked fine until about a year ago, when the bottom one stopped working. Shortly thereafter, the top one became very unreliable in terms of temperature, especially at the lower end. The heating element was cycling too fast.
By five months ago, the top oven stopped working altogether. It would not heat up. We replaced the sensor, and it did no good.
A mutimeter showed that the problem was in the relay board. As they are expensive, we replaced the one for the top oven (which is standard/convection) only. It worked like a charm when tested about a week ago. Tonight, I used the broiler on high, and it was fine. Later in the evening, I tried to preheat the oven to make brownies. It never topped 170. I tried it off and back on, and it never heated past 155.
The heating elements are not the problem. The elements are cycling on and off too fast again.
Any suggestions?

I found the lower circuit breaker had been tripped. That didn't fix the problem but upon further inspection whoever had worked on the unit years ago had dropped a screwdriver that had lodged between the oven wall and the rear casing and shorted out the lower heating element. I removed the screwdriver and oven works fine now. I don't think that will solve the cmmclow problem but maybee the curcuit breaker is tripped.

HI - I just had the same problem - repairman came and reset the breaker in the oven which "tripped" (even tho I havent used the lower oven in months). Read posts here on other Dacor ovens which explain how to get to the reset switch to avoid having $150 in repair costs - I have not tried that myself tho but good luck!
it could be the oven temp sensor rod located near the top of the inside of the oven,or possibly the bake element has a hot spot on the element and can no longer pass enough current thru this spot to correctly heat to your settings a hot spot on the element will look discolored in this area
