SOURCE: i am getting alot of water leaking out of the unit.

I live with my husband and three sons in a house that we almost never succeed in cooling enough every summer. But a few months back, my uncle mentioned that he had recently purchased a new model of air conditioner by Plasma Cool called Plasma Cool Portable PC-14E that required no draining and came equipped with technology to remove most of the humidity from the air. We checked this ac out at his home, and the next thing we did was researched all the no drain acs with evaporative booster out there in the market to see if there was anything better than the one my uncle had. But the only one that met our needs and budget was Plasma Cool Portable PC-14E. At 14,000 BTU, this ac is 40-50% more powerful than similar acs in the market and covers upto 500 sq. ft. Look for this product on www.plasmacoolportableac.com which lays out the features and specifications in easy and comprehensible fashion without coming across as trying too hard to sell you the product. We just finished the 30 day trial period, and now own the ac. We are very satisfied and are considering purchasing another unit soon.

SOURCE: A.C. unit is draining on the inside of the house.

There is a drainage and it is stucked with dust, mold etc. Just open metal lid on the wall inside your house, where the coil is installed and where you're changing filters, remove air filter, there at bottom you will see the drainage hole (now under water probably). Rent an air compressor from Home Depot or Lowe's, stick the hose to that hole and turn compressor on. This shall blow the drainage through. After that slowly pour 1-2 cups of Chlorox or Tylex in there, let it stand for 15 minutes, then pour some more water and blow with compressed air again, then flush it with water and blow last time.
Do that at least once in two years, or you gonna have same problem again.

If water is leaking in the inside of the home, or window area, then the unit is not installed properly and is leaning forward. The unit, per installation instructions, needs to have a slight lean backwards. Each model is different so please refer to your Owner's Guide and Install Manual for the exact decline inch amount.

Hello, first make sure the unit is tilted back in the window about a 1/4 inch. Also, check the drain on unit, sometimes they can clog and prevent condensate from draining.

Drainage occurs near the front of the unit, resulting in pools of water leaking onto my window sill. Unit is installed properly, there is no drain hole to direct water away from the insides of the walls...

The A/C unit should be tilted slightly to the rear and this will allow the water to leak to the outside of the window, you may have to drill a small hole in the case to drain if there is no pre-existing hole.

    Water leaking inward

There should be a drip tray that catches all the condensation and funnels it out the back. Check for holes, cracks or a plugged drain hole.

We have a 10000 btu frigidaire window unit and it is leaking water outside when running. What can we do to stop the leaking or is that normal.

Part of the function of an air conditioner is to dehumidify the air in the room being cooled. The water dripping out the back is the water being removed from the air in your house.

    Water leaking inside house

Your problem is there is debris inside of the casing blocking the drain hole in the back of the unit.. Go outside and look under the unit and you will see several holes throughout. These holes allow the condensation to drain out from the bottom of the unit. The best way to clean the unit is to remove the unit from the sleeve take the unit outside and you can wash out the system with a water house as long as you make sure that you don't wet any of the fan motors. The metal thing you refer to is the evaporator coil. If you go to the home improvement store you can purchase a can of coil cleaner. This cleaner is sprayed into the coil at which time it foams up like shaving cream. Let it sit on the coils as directed on the can. Once the time has elapsed rinse the coils well remembering not to get any electrical parts wet (I suggest purchasing a pump up garden sprayer for this because it is easy to control where the water will go) After this is done let the unit sit until the water has disappated then reinstall into its sleeve. The dust by the fan can be removed with a brush and a vacuum (wet Vac). Good luck on repairs
